Wait, didn't you say this was going to happen even before you tried but now you're upset about it?

Just because you know ahead of time that something is probably going to happen doesn't mean that you won't still be upset when it happens.

I took the "they saw my name" thing to infer they were keeping him out for other reasons. Maybe I read too much into the op

I did not know this was going to happen. This is just a testing lab. I am not upset... it just sucks, I don't know... not the best feeling in the world. I have been here so long I forget I am from out of town...lol

What upsets me a little is the fact that it is because of my nationality... if I was Israeli or Brit or fou fou frenchy, I don't think it would have been an issue.

I don't know how much of that I would believe....

If OTOH you had said "It's cause I'm black", I'd believe you

I am not even allowed to go demonstrate my work to the DoD yet, but hopefully when I get my green card this year I could.
Must be at least a permanent resident to enter their facilities.

Not true. You would have an issue regardless of nationality.

That was different story, for demonstration I understand... which I think too place in some base. This is just testing, I would be going to a research lab sponsored by DoD.

Considering I had to wait 7 months to get my TS/SCI clearance at my old job, and I'm a citizen with a completely clean background, I don't have too much sympathy...

Coworker is from Singapore and he is fine. Although he is married to an American, but is not a citizen.

Did they know about your drinking problem?

They don't care about your nationality or name. If you aren't a citizen there is a huge process to get you into the facility, and even there you wouldn't be able to touch a damn thing. Therefor, the company is going to push for your company to send citizens that they can deal with much easier.

in hindsight, you probably should have scaled back all the flailing of arms and shouting 'Allah Ackbar!!' when you found out that you guys got the contract.

They actually didn't care that I drank like a college frat boy should. What held me up was the fact that for some unknown reason, I got flagged as someone with serious drug issues - like a drug dealer. Which is absurd, I've smoked pot like twice in my life and that's it.

It was an awesome 8 hours strapped into the polygraph, let me tell you....

You got an SCI in 7 months. Actually, with the poly, and it sounds like a full scope, that should've taken way longer than 7 months.

People with perfectly clean records wait over a year on that sometimes.

Yea it was really great. Especially because they know polygraphs aren't fully accurate, so they tell you you're lying even when you aren't, to try to drag more out of you.

Varies greatly depending on the area. In the DC region, its over a year. Not nearly as bad up in PA. Some of the guys I started with had their clearance in 3 months.

My paperwork was lost after 9/11.

For 18 months, nothing.
Then when I ask, they do not know where it was.

I am glad that DIS was abolished, but they took my clearances with them :|
