Would you expect a document (let's say a Word document) to retain printer-specific settings with regard to its margins regardless of the machine it is being viewed on?
I came across something odd on a customer's computer today. It's not specific to a particular application (I saw the problem in MS Works and LibreOffice).
Say for example I set up a spreadsheet with 0.5cm margins on each side, draw a bordered grid on it, then maximise the column widths to the point that they use up the whole width of the page. On the customer's machine there's still approximately a 1.5cm gap on the right side of the page (landscape or portrait) regardless of the document's margin setting.
If I send that document to another computer, I see the same problem.
If I set up the spreadsheet again on another computer (same app), it doesn't have the problem.
Admittedly the problem may become a moot point very shortly as we need to replace the printer, but it's a very odd problem and I wondered if any of you had any ideas. I checked through the computer's printer driver settings and I couldn't see anything suggestive. The printer is a Canon MG8150.
