Documents and Settings question

In my documents and Settings folder there are four entries for users:

The Windows folder on this computer is Windows.0. In other words Boot.ini refers to Windows.0.

The file All Users is huge -- some 9.6 GB -- and if it is safe to do so I would like to get rid of it.

Any opinions of whether I would screw up the system if I transferred the All Users and Default User file to an archive drive and simply left the All Users.Windows.0 and Default User.Windows.0 files in Documents and Settings?

Did you reinstall windows over the same partition at one point?

Thanks for the reply. Yes that is where the Windows.0 came from. The only user now is me -- Gustavus. I am also the administrator.

Here is the complete list of folders in Documents and Settings

The folder on the C drive is Windows.0. The old Windows folder has been moved to an archive drive.

You should be able to move the old All Users folder to an archive drive then. Basically any drive where there is both a [folder name] and [foldername].Windows.0 can be moved.

The ones that just have [folder name] with no windows.0 should be left where they are.

Thanks for the reply, but your advice appears to be contradictory. First you say:

Then you say:

which describes the folder you say can be moved.

I was of the opinion I could move All Users and Default User, but can take the time to be as sure as I can be that this will not cause a problem. If I right click on them, the rename button is active, so it is possible I can rename them at first to see if that causes a problem. I don't want to get into a situation where I can not boot into Windows to work on the machine.

Let me clarify, folders that have duplicates, one without Windows.0 and one with. All Users also has a All users.Windows.0, so it can be moved. As does the Default User.

Gustavus doesn't have a Windows.0 Version, so it should stay as it's from the new install.

Thanks for the opinions. I finally took the plunge and moved the unused folders out of Documents and Settings -- thereby gaining over 6GB of space.
