Very true I guess. I usually assume very specific knowledge comes with "checklist knowledge" of the very basics as well but I suppose that's not always the case.

My GP didnt know shit about my skin tags aside from how to remove them.
I had to see a dermatologist to learn how to actually prevent the things.

I think doctors more than any other profession are assumed to know all kinds of stuff us laymen think is "basic" when really theres a damn good reason we have so many specialist these days.

But also historians and politicians have that problem. You think theres some really basic shit about how the world got this way that they HAVE to know because thats their business. But not always.

Actually, given the problems we keep having, I think all politicians at the federal level should be required to pass a basic history exam.

For example: He forgot humans started in deep Africa. And their civilization too.
(Though like many Arabs he probably believes true civilization didnt start until Egyptian or Persian times or something like that.)
