Hi

Yesterday my brother tried to boot up his computer and received a message saying that several windows files were missing and could not enter windows. We decided that we're just going to reinstall windows xp but we're trying to save his school documents and music folder (all under Documents and Settings). When I put his HD into my computer we could access everything except for his profile folder under documents and settings, where everything is. Anyone have any ideas how we can reach those? Thanks

try a botdisk with dos, then accessing it through the command line

or if it's an ntfs kinda thing it might work with just a command prompt

I had that problem one time and just set the folder properties to show hidden file and they showed up.
