Doctor Who 2012 finale tonite.

A very special Doctor Who tonite. The last episode(except for the Christmas special) of the year.

Oh, and very special guest star:
River Song

Such a short season 🙁

At least the episodes are available the next day on Amazon. Better than using 'alternative means' to see episodes. (And it's only ~$2 per HD episode if you get a TV pass for the season).

I've tried twice to get into the Doctor Who shows. In the 60's and 70's original version, as well as the "current" version. I just can't seem to get into it.
I LIKE Torchwood...well, except for the whole "Captain Jack is gay" part...but otherwise, that's usually pretty well written.

Well, I just saw it.

A real good yarn. And a tear jerker.
Nice ending for Amelia and Rory Pond.

This season has also been a massive downer for me. I haven't gotten into any of the episodes, it just hasn't seemed like the prior seasons at all. Then to top it off, just when we get through a few episodes they stop it again. I'm not a fan of these split seasons, they'll be back December 25.

I can understand that. They went a little out of their way to ensure that it was a plot point. It tended to distract from the storylines instead of adding to them. I found Will and Grace to be more tolerable than Torchwood because of that.

Just finished watching it. Awwww... shit.

I was hoping for a Donna Noble type ending/departure. It was a "happy" ending, but they're still dead.

At the of The Impossible Astronaut, little Melody Pond was left alone in 1969. I was expecting Rory and Amy to meet up with her then.

Personally I'm very pleased with the ending of the show. I've never like
she who shall not be named
and am glad that
she's gone.
I now hope we can finally get back to Doctor Who rather than
the Amy Pond show

anyone else notice "tardis blue" in nearly every single camera shot? these people are shamelessly full of themselves. in the old shows, the words "doctor who" were rarely if ever used - now the eponymous phrase is used often, even chanted for an extended period by daleks!

as they revel in hubris and push merchandise, the show completely crashes and burns in every single episode. i can see why eccleston left and didn't look back.

If you watched the series 6 finale about the "fall of the 11th and the question that must never be asked" and the series 7 premiere, you'd know that "Doctor who?" is a huge theme for the season.

the theme is "doctor gibberish, or how i learned to stop thinking and polish a turd"

Why such animosity to gays (and bi in this case)? I think it's handled well and is refreshing.

He's here, he's bi, get used to it.

Well the whole arc for last season was that the Doctor got too big and too well known. In this season he has hidden himself so barely anybody knows who he is, and that includes the Daleks thanks to souffle girl. This is all leading up to the plot point that was mentioned at the end of S6.

I think the 5 episodes of this half have been pretty good. They have had a couple of loose ties to each other and overall the episode quality has been fairly consistent. I would say between 7/8 out of 10. Nothing really outstanding like Blink, Dalek or Girl in the fireplace but nothing as bad as Fear Her, Gridlock or Daleks in Manahattan.

thanks to souffle girl.

You know that souffle girl is the new companion, right?

Moffat has had some really great slow developing story lines. The silence were great characters until they changed it into something completely different. The Amy pregnancy was handled great in the way it was revealed, even though I can't wait until they write River out of the show.

But I'll still take bad David Tennant over good Matt Smith anyday.

I kind of compare my thoughts between David and Matt the same as Tom Baker and the next doctor (and even the one after that). Just didn't care for them.

They try to make their personalities different and sometimes, it's just..too jarring.

Also..anyone notice that the Doctor seems to be aging backwards in terms of actors playing him? The first doctors were old men...and seemed to get younger and younger over time..and it's progressed the same way here (only started younger).
