anywhere else and the guy would of been rushing over to see if the little girl was ok and probably blaming himself.

blaming an 11 yr old for his cycle riding shortfalls is majorly weak.

plus he was coming up from behind, which taken out of context is also way wrong lol, but coming from behind, on a bike.....does the guy have vision of about 2 ft or something? he didnt see her as he was riding? sounds to me like he had plenty of time to either slow or move out the way. instead he just keeps riding shouting and ringing a bell.

if i was the judge i would of laughed him out of court. anyone else with a brain probably would of too.

i like how the article said he cant do sports he use to excel at like "biking" LOL obviously he couldnt ride a bike save his life.

and pffft cant swim anymore, what a load of BS. one of my friends has dislocated his shoulder 5 times, and had tasty surgery to keep it there..... a few months later hes back in the pool kicking ass at his best stroke....butterfly which is probably the worst one to do with dodgy shoulders. swimming is no to low impact so joint pain is rarely a cause for concern unless its breast stroke which can ****** your knees if you dont do it right....but the solution is simple. do one of the other 3 strokes. freestyle can be done by barely moving your legs.

if he's that damaged from a bicycle crash he was either going quite a pace or he's lying. i rode over a speed bump way too fast on a bike with no suspension. yeah i went flying head over heels quite literally. not even wearing a helmet, landed flat on the deck with my bike entangled in my legs. once someone free'd me from my bike...i rode the ****** home and went to the pool for training later the same day. no effect to my ability to swim at all.

Chances are that it was a Magistrate style action with a request for jury trial, so little recourse to get to court. That it went to the jury, that is a little disturbing. BUT, the jury came through and did the right thing. 15 minutes! It took them 14 to fill out the paperwork. Hero tag.

heh i wonder how much actual time they deliberated. would be nice to get a interview with some members of the jury.

in colorado a cyclist can get a ticket for hitting a ped and yes people on scates are peds.

:roll: Right. Just an FYI, 99.9999% of Americans would have done exactly that. This guy just happened to be a greedy douchebag looking to scam a preteen girl (or her parents) out of $150k over an innocent accident.

The only reason you even heard about this at all is because the thought of a rich doctor on a bike running over an 11 year old girl on skates from behind - and then filing suit against her for basically getting in his way - is almost too ridiculous for normal humans to comprehend, and therefore a worthwhile news story. Nevermind the fact that hundreds of similar incidents that don't make the news occur all over the country on a daily basis. GJ on the generalizations though.
