Does the great saphenous vein combine with the femoral vein in the femoral sheath or are they the same thing and the portion in the femoral sheath/adductor canal is called the femoral vein. i'm a little confused

Ahh this brings me back, I wish that I had taken Gross Human Anatomy at Mississippi College before I transferred to a public university, only (non medical) school in my state that lets the undergraduate students dissect real cadavers (not just parts). Might have to take it in summer school up there.

That being said, sorry I cannot help you. My sophomore level human anatomy classes memorization of things like that went out the Window when cramming for Genetics and Ochem my junior year

My girlfriend says the saphenous vein and femoral vein are separate veins. She's in anatomy right now....

Edit: NVM, read the OP wrong. Seperate veins that connect near the inguinal ligament.

She says the saphenous vein drains into the femoral vein. They are not the "same thing."

if i remember correctly, the greater saphenous vein joins up with the femoral vein around the area of the femoral triangle...
