DOA Opty146 from Monarch???

I just got it today and installed it on 2 different motherboards with the same result -- Press power button --fans spin-up ~ 2 seconds and then computer turns off. Both motherboards work fine w/my Venice3000+ CPU. Do you think this Opty is a DOA??? I reset CMOS on both boards too w/o any luck. What's your opinion???

Correct, Yoda is. Anything and everything can happen to any piece of hardware before it reaches a retailer, especially something as fragile as a CPU. Sounds like RMA time to me...
