DOA harddrive?

Recently purchased a "SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive" but I cant see to get my Extreme 4 to locate it. I tried both AHCI and IDE mode but nothing seems to show up. Am I missing something or is this a dud?

Maybe, but probably not. Does it spin up? Are you sure you connected it correctly. Have you tried it in another system? Do you have a SATA to USB connector you could test it out with. Do you hear any clicking? Does it have any jumpers you have messed with?
 
Do you mean it's not showing up in Windows?

If that's the case, then just right click "My Computer," select "Manage."

Go to "Disk Management" on the left. Locate your HDD. You may just need to initialize/format/assign a drive letter.
