Geez no wonder why he doesn't like it. Not enough variety.

But yes, a child needs to eat what's given to them. Children don't make up the rules.

Erm, you must not have kids. Not that they make up the rules, but forcing a kid to eat what's given to them isn't healthy. Rule of choice, even if between two things is better than eat crap that you don't like. I find out that my kids, granted young, won't eat certain things and find out as they get older that something upsets their stomach. Found out my oldest had an allergy to salmon. Would you want to be forced to eat a food you hate or made you not feel good? Sure, if they won't eat ANY vegetables or fruits or anything healthy, but to force them to eat those sweet potatos that they abhor just because its on their plate isn't good either.

My two year old will only eat rice, tofu, and roasted seaweed.

That's good. Not bad. Better than my oldest at two would only eat hot dogs, grapes, and goldfish crackers. And my youngest at almost two now, eats mac & cheese, apples, chicken noodle soup, and yogurt, occassionally fish. He won't have anything to do with anything else.

You're a kid. You don't make the money and you don't cook it so you must eat what's given to you. If you don't like it then you go to sleep without eating. Tough

Why should the kids have less say? Are they below you?

yes. they are.

they are children.

until they earn money to buy what they want or go out and buy it themselves... they eat what they're fucking given.

the only exception i will ever make to this is if it's something that will make them sick. otherwise "i dont like it" .. is no excuse in my book.

There's alot of food items i didn't like.. or thought i didn't like... until i bothered to try eating it. Even the first time tasting it isn't enough to decide if you like it or not.

I doubt all the picky eaters in the world are like that because of medical problems. Not everyone in the world has a medical problem.

Some people just like some things more than others? Is there proof that forcing your kids to eat everything when they are young is going to magically make them less picky eventually? You can't even define picky. Some people just really prefer to eat what they love all the time. They CAN eat other things, but why should they have to? Because they are under your rule of law?

Children have brains. Unless your particular children are braindamaged and cannot understand which foods are relatively healthy vs unhealthy, what would be the reason that you would refuse to allow them to choose what they prefer... besides for you power tripping and feeling special that you have some control over something in your life for once?

There is no reason a 7+ year old cannot do this reasonably.

They don't seem to be below you. In fact, they might turn out quite above you, because from your forcefeeding, they might actually learn from you what not to do.

because i'm running a house... not a fucking diner.

If i'm making Grilled Flounder with Steamed Broccoli... and they want Hamburger and French Fries for no other reason than "they dont like Flounder" ....

too bad.

I'm not making or buying supplies for each individual... i'm making stuff for the entire family.

i don't care if they're 4... 8.. or 22.

If you want something else... buy the supplies & make it yourself.

Not a parent, but as a kid/teenager (I'm 22), I'm sure we had some input. I mean, we told my Mom what we liked and didn't and thus we had more of what we liked. And she is certainly a great cook. But they were all healthy and weren't crazy requests or anything. And yes, we had to eat pretty much everything on our plate.

Don't want to cater to individual needs and treat people as though they were individuals? Don't have children.

So... tell me what restaurant you run for free... and i'll send them over there to eat instead.

Apparently you have a walk-in refrigerator with thousands of dollars worth of food readily defrosted and a convection oven that can cook food instantly... everything pre-prepared and made at a moments notice.

Me? I have a standard kitchen, with a refrigerator/freezer.. and food needs to be defrosted... and a standard oven.. that takes time to cook something properly.

I also work for a living, so i don't have all day to prepare meals for each "individual" ..

But.. since you're .. what... 17? Living on mommy and daddy's dime, without a job, or school to attend... i can see why you would argue for "individualism"

He didn't choose to have children, dickhead.

So.... according to you... having children mean you instantly become a personal chef, and slave to THEIR every whim?

let us know how that works for you once you reach puberty and have the ability to procreate..

I'm seeing a patter here.

1. You make a shitty point.

2. Someone disagrees.

3. You respond by accusing said person of being imature.

Ad hominem= lowlife.

Truth hurts, eh? Sorry to hear that your father molested you, but giving children free reign to to do whatever they want can't fix that.

Lighten up guys and knock off the personal attacks
