only wussies cry. seriously, if I saw a man crying I'd probably punch him and say "quite being such a woman"
Why you certainly do talk the talk... but I doubt you'd seriously pursue an altercation if you saw me crying. And if you did, I do belive I would respond, if not with outright force, then with an equally disturbing display of insanity.
Okay, time for the guys to fess up. For girls, tears are like sneezing sometimes. It happens, not always about something, whatever. (Someone should invent a stock phrase, like guezundeit (sp?) for female crying) So although you don't often cry just at random like us femmes, do you/have you cried on shoulders at times? Over what?
I think in assuming that a lack of empathy and attachment is somehow genetic in nature or based on hormones or sex kinda simplifies the issue while cutting off what I think is a more viable solution: everything

.
I do cry at random, events and phenomena sadden me. Crying on someone's shoulder is no different that crying in the solitude of one's mind, it seems to me. We are each still alone and must choose. If the company of another simplifies an emotional katharsis, it's only a facilitator or reinforcing mechanism.
I recall reading in Gunter Grass' Tin Drum about a place where people got together and cried with the help of onions. The comment was that alone, it wasn't quite as effective. This applies here, I think in that you say males do not cry at random and thus must have a reason and really need the support of another.
I can see how that works, although I can't really say that is the reason why I cry, to answer your question.
oh and Hey
