Do you / would you own a gun for protection?

I own a Colt Model 2000 w/ a Polymer frame and (3) 15 round clips. It's double action only, so no hammer. Freedom to bear arms is what I believe in.

I would like to get one, but I don't know what type to get or where to get one. I want something that is a semi automatic, maybe a glok or however they are spelled, I don't know if I will get one though, cause I promised my best friend that I wouldn't get one, I think she is worried that I might do something stupid with it or something like that.

I don't know. I have no plans to....but bad experiences can change anything.

While I do agree with the freedom to bear arms, I don't think there's any need for Joe schmoe to own some crazy fully automatic weapon.

I wish everyone would go back to using swords. Atleast it looks cooler. ;)

Hate/violence only breed more hate/violence. I wouldn't own one.

I think that if they take away the guns, it'd be better for society than if they let all the innocent people possess one for self-defence.

Only police and the military should have guns. Private citizens should be banned from owning them. Then we'd finally have no more murders.

I agree with the we should go back to swords thing, it was a nobler way to fight. It doesn't require much skill to walk up to someone and shoot them, but to have a swordfight does, imo,

Guns are evil, didn't you know? That's right, all guns have a spirit of evil and violence living within their steel structures, and they impart their malicious wills onto their possessors.

I would if I had the money. For now I just have a couple bb guns and a couple potato cannons...my larger cannon can go through about 6 layers of cardboard and splinter 1/2" plywood :p

or if you are going to kill long range, at least use a bow. that takes a lot more skill than a gun.

Lol, I like the sarcasm. Unless you were being serious, in which case you're a dumbass :)

BTW I live in Canada, so no gun for me.

I pay my taxes and I want to get my money's worth. If someone breaks into my house with intent to do me harm, I call 911 and if I am lucky, the police will get there just in time to draw a nice chalk line around my body. :)

This has to be one of the dumbest things I have ever heard. Anyone can pick up a sword and swing it about in an unskilled manner, even if they are not trained.

I would like to see someone that has no experience with firearms pick one up, load it, then proceed to place every shot in the bull's-eye on a target.

As for being a "nobler" way to fight, go read some 99 cent romance novel from 7-11 with Fabio on the cover. The only dirty fight is one you lose.

I don't and doubt I ever will. I'm not so much against it, even though i do think that there are way too many guns out there and it's ridiculous and something should be done against it but I could see myself buying a gun to keep at home. I never will because mrs. skoorb is big time against it and I don't really care much either way so it will never be a problem for us.

the criminal is more likely to shoot me if he saw me with a gun than if i dont have one.
when the criminal sees themselves as being in danger, the he would shoot first to protect himself.

About 14 months away from getting one. When I turn 21 I plan on getting a Walther PPK. I need to spend some time this summer with my grandfather and practice with his Colt .45 revolver. I figure if I can get used to the recoil from that, the PPK will be a nice change.
