Well, all the BUFF kids in school are short.
I'm 6 foot but i'm looking forward to growing more.

Is it true that if you work out you limit your growth size?

I mean, not doing squats or anything that beats you down, i mean, if i do weight curls, and bench pressing, will i stop growing?

I think it's just speculation, as far as I know, theres no concrete evidence that working out would limit your growth in height.

It's too random anyways. My family is very tall, I'm not, and I never worked out seriously.

Short people are more likely to work out and get "buff" because they suffer from "short man syndrome." (insecurity about their limited stature) NOT because working out makes them short or stunts their growth.

It is a complete myth that lifting makes you short or stunts your growth.

I've lifted on and off since I was 14 (I'm 38), and I'm 6' tall.

I work out, but it's not like how the "cool kids" work out. I just stick to the basics: running, pushups and situps. Maybe a little weight lifting here and there, but not much. But I also heard something about weight lifting stunting your growth, and I can see some examples of that happening if you start too young. But really, if you're fully grown (which is what it sounds like if you're 6 foot) then you should be fine.

it does not impede growth as shown by research. what it can do is destroy your joints without the proper lifting technique(knees should never go past toes during squats, etc.)

In a word NO.

You only see top Gymnasts and WL guys that are short because it is easier to be at THE TOP when your short in those sports. Ever seen a high jumper at the Olympics that was 5"5?

Yeah why? I bet you don't know how everything works.

And yeah, i did go back to Bulgaria to get my dentist work done. It cost 150$ for 3 treatments and its been 1 year and my teeth are finer than fine.

Its funny how a guy with the name "Son of a n00b" is criticising me.

-stop posting bitch if you have nothing topic related to say.

yea, look at vin diesel or mark walberg. Both are around 5' 7" and both are very buff. Most buff guys that I see, and guys around that gym that can lift very heavy weights, and can have the ability to kick my arse, are at least 3-4 inches shorter than I am.

I messed up the bolding.

Your knees should go past your toes in the squat. No reason why it shouldn't. The ONLY reason 'fitness instructors' say this is because the 'course' they did tells them this.

MOST people can not even touch the floor properly let alone sit in a 'real' squat. Too much running and not enough full range of movement work and stretching has made people stiff and inflexible.

You have 1/4 worlds population squating down and they are fine with it.

Are these real friends or imaginary?

I am only 5'11"...most people I know and see in public are shorter.

Lifting at a very young age can do damage to your growth plates in laymans terms, but even that is highly debated. However, once in high school I doubt you have anything to worry about other than pulls and sprains.

Check out the heights of some of the top competitive bodybuilders. If they are shorter, it's easier to look massive because of the proportions involved. Lee Priest (who places around 6 in top competitions) is only 5'7", and I've seen many others that are around that height. Granted, some of the monsters are taller but not much. Ronnie Coleman is 5'11"; Jay Cutler is 5'9"; Dexter Jackson is 5'6"; King Kamali is 5'10"; Shawn Ray is 5'7".

I stopped growing for a year or so and started growing again when I started working out. I stopped growing in height but unfortunately tend to still grow easily, lol. Working out is the best thing for a growing body.

I was stuck at 5'6" as a freshman and came back as a 6'2" sophomore. Ended up a little bigger than that. ;)

Not sure what your point is but shorter bodybuilders have a natural advantage... a tall man would need an insane amount of bodyweight to compete with a guy like Lee Priest who is closer to 5'4". (I've seen him in person)

Ronnie Coleman is a freak and it's no wonder he is the reigning bodybuilder. :D

8" in one summer! My back was hosed... I also gained at least 30 pounds and probably lost fat. Puberty is not easy for everyone, lol.
