I see alot of people on the left (and in here) bashing corporations....I was curious to see how many of them actually work for corporations.

So yes, it has to do quite a bit with politics.

just a question, how do you think people make money?

Self-employed basically. I work in my company with two employees. AFAIK, this is where most peeps work (small local companies), not for large corps.

Corporations are dictatorships with one goal. Profits.
The people who work for them are all great people. But their opinions are rarely heard for company direction and motives.

Do you have a 401k? Do you own stock? If so, then you are as much to blame. You DO want your stocks and 401k to perform well do you not?

If you dont, then take a look at the millions of people in this country that own stock or have 401k plans. The consumer demands their stock to perform.....and performance is based off of profit. We, as a nation, drive the very engine that we despise. Same way we despise hollywood, yet was as a nation enabled them to get where they are.

Well, you're right, you did say the most evil corporation on Earth. And given your proximity to Orlando, we must be talking about Disney. Or Wal-Mart. One of those two.

I'm not saying every person that works at a left coast school is liberal. However you will probably agree with me that the majority of them are.

....however I do think you can also break down the people very vocal against corporations into a category that either A) have not or will not work for one and B) worked for a corporation and didnt like it

Now whether that has any statistical significance or not is another story (causation, correllation and all that jazz)

I want my profits maximized but within reason. I wouldnt be impressed if they are heavy polluters, allowing injury as law suits are cheaper than fixing, or buying government officials.

I'd like to see profits generated by demand and new products people enjoy or save peoples lives.
That being said what is the point of government if corporations are not held to account. There needs to be well thought out guidelines preventing corporate control of our lives.

Well technically, according to the US constitution AND market theory, government has no business in economy.

However, I'm a bit more realistic and will admit that there needs to be some sort of regulation of corporations. However, to say that all corporations are automatically bloodsucking evil entitities out to take all of our money is a bit childish to say the least.

O.K. - I do work for a Huge Corporation.
I make things that go fast and kill lots of people.
Things that go 'Boom' in the night.

Viet Nam, Panama, Gulf-1, Bosnia, Afganistan, & Gulf-2 are my resume.

Awww. Some Alka-Seltzer might help you out there, if you can stomach swallowing a product produced by one of those big, nasty corporations.

I used to work for myself which sounds nice on the surface but is not it's cracked up to be, particularly once Uncle Slam gets done sucking up a goodly percentage of your earnings.

Actually, the US constitution does address that the government has the very real right to control commerce.

No...it isnt.

I stated up above the purpose of this thread.

However, on a personal level yes I have a problem paying the amount of taxes I do to the national government. I would prefer the majority of my taxes went to my own state and local government where it could do the most good, since I live and work here.

tss4:

Other than interstate commerce and international commerce, where? And keep in mind both of those subjects were between state governments and US/foreign governments.....not how a business decided to operate or allocate resources/profits. Think contractual law, not regulatory law.

....and earlier....corporate control of you life? How does that work? If you dont like the price of the product, dont pay it. Pretty straightforward.

Lol...you do realize that the red states recieve far mare money than they put in right?
So no your tax money isnt going to the blue states. It's in your state...but you are definately on welfare from the blue states :)

Life's a b!tch.
Don't worry though, the blues don't seem to mind helping their fellow man out

I've seen that argument thrown around time and time again, and I have yet to see some credible evidence to support it. On top of that as for your comment about "the blues dont mind helping their fellow man out" then why the huge outrcy about it from the blue states?

However, regardless of that.....even if it WERE true, I still would be for it. Let each state support their own social and infrastructure programs without the bureacratic interference from Washington.

Who knows better how to handle a state's problem? The state government found right there at the source, or some bureaucrat for life a thousand miles away in DC?

Your state keeps their hard earned dollars, mine keeps ours.

This... shows the red recieving federal spending and the blues contributing.

I'm going to guess that the reds cut taxes so low that they cannot sustain themselves.
If you think they can manage themselves...why are they such gravy suckers?

BTW...where's your state on the list ;)
