SPF 15 FTW! Not too high as to induce whiteness but not too low as to induce cancer.

been wearing spf 30 and it still wasn't enough...
moved up to 45....

Keep in mind that this is only for work, where we are stressing the hell out of our bodies and for some reason that makes it worse...at the beach I don't need anything....

go figure...

I use it for a bit at the beginning of the summer but after a couple of weeks I'm so dark I don't bother. However, I always put it on my dome if I'm going to be outside for a while.

Since its supposed to SCREEN the sun. The one of few the times that the US word makes more sense.

Me too. I live in the Mojave Desert and its foolish not too. Incidentally, we have a lot of foolish people out here.

But it isnt a screen, it is CREAM.

So's toothpaste. Do you call it tooth-cream?

A fact is melanoma rates are increasing rapidly in Western countries in particular. And these are coincidentally the same countries who publically push for sunscreen usage. There isn't much of a skin cancer problem in developing countries where they don't have such ready access to sunscreen products.
And that would make you mistaken. reference Sunscreen does not cause skin cancer. It can lead to folks getting more sun, which is the probable cause.

My basal cell carcinomas were where I did not put sunscreen on my back and shin. Good news on that front. Aldara, which is used for genital warts, is now the best treatment for basal cell carcinoma. Burned it right off in about 4 mths. No surgery, but did require bandaids when it was at its peak.

//ex-swimmer (FL is outdoors), ex-surfer. Aloe Gator is #1, followed by BullFrog.

Nope, because I'm rarely out in the full sun for a full day. If I ever will be, though, I use sunscreen on the back of my neck and that's it. Asians don't burn, they tan. Darkly.

If I'm going to the lake/beach, it's Bullfrog all the way, but otherwise, no.

Bad analogy. Make your example something they actually use. :p

As a Public Service Announcement, clothing doesn't have infinite SPF.

A white cotton T-shirt has an SPF of only 5-10. And that gets cut roughly in 1/2 to 1/3 when wet.

I just got the worst burn of my life yesterday. Imagine the darkest shade of red possible with a little purple tint thrown in. Thats my entire body. It hurt so bad I couldnt sleep last night.

I normally wear sunscreen with spf > 30 since I have red hair/freckles, but we went to the pool for 4 hours yesterday, and I used spf 4 by mistake. I havnt had a serious burn in years though, so hopefully this wont damage me too badly :)

Yeah, I try to remember to put some on if I'm going to be outside for a while, but especially when golfing or fishing. SPF 30

I also have some lip balm because my lips burn and get really tight without it.

I just try to never go outside during the summer days. If I have to be out in it, yeah I paste on the heaviest protection I can find.

On a side note, as someone who has a near fetish for paler skin I'd like to encourage women everywhere to stay out of the sun or use plenty of skin protection.

sunscreen...hell no. my skin provides natural protection. yay for being ignorant!

While you may have a higher sun tolerance, you aren't 100% protected.

never been sunburned yet.

Heh...when my wife and I went on our honeymoon to St. Thomas, she kept lathering me down with sunscreen so that I wouldn't get burned (worked). I told her that she needed to put some on too and she just kind of laughed and said, "Black people don't get sunburned". After an all day sailing and snorkeling trip, her shoulders were very crispy.
