Do you watch the news at all?

I have not watched the news, national or local since before the elections. Get all my news on Google news and cough cough, here 🙂

I don't watch the corporate media anymore. It's disgustingly biased toward the neoconservative movement.

That couldn't be more distorted. The MSM was left biased beyond belief up to the election. They have moderated some since, but still ver left. Our only defense was to build up the right wing media and now that it is there, the lefties are feeling the pressure. The MSM is fair on their best day and still mostly left. Beyond belief that it can be seen any other way. I watched BBC and British CNN while I was overseas and BBC was more neutral than CNN! Remember, the Clinton News Network? The Communist News Network?

I think that I can interpretet the news and tell what is biased and waht is not because I have no experience with looking at myself.

I went for several years without watching local or national news. I would get my info from newspapers, magazines, the internet and here. Recently, I started watching television news again. What a waste! The local news is just a headline service with no depth, and built around news readers that are physically attractive.

Clap clap clap clap!

I agree with what Zedtom said. Except for times of breaking news, weather reports or extreme boredom while channel surfing I haven't really watched the TV news since the Vietnam War era. Although it is interesting to tune into Faux News every once in a while to witness the blatant manipulation and sophisticated propoganda that passes for mainstream broadcast news reporting these days.

I don't go out of my way to watch it, but if I'm bored and there's nothing else on television, I'll flip on CNN or Fox News.

Tv news is just infoganda. Radio news is flat out propoganda. The only place to get anything even close to accurate is the foreign press.

News?? All I see is propaganda....from both sides. I listen to the weather mostly and catch the bigger stories on the interent or the radio. If I hear of one that interests me I research it a little.

ah, because they're not biased at all. heh.

the only way to get close to accurate is to read news from a wide variety of sources and make your own judgements.

EXACTLY.

No TV or radio owned by me since 1989. Whenever I see one on it's amazing all the little hinters it drops how you can fit into tvlands view of a good american consumer. It makes me ill and I blame it for the look-alike zombies from the suburbs wandering through the streets with no clue all dressed in the same clothes from suburban clothes stores (GAP etc.) listening to the same music from corprate music industry. Isolating themselves from their fellow person driving their car everywhere. No wonder American music is so bad, our culture now is one big commercial packaged product of conformity and blandness and conformity in the name of the almighty (not anymore though.) dollar. Anything that stands out is harder to make profit off of or may provide a dissenting view of their status-quo and what they tell you is trendy this month.
Corprate American news is no better. the bias on ALL of them is disgusting. BBC is cool NPR and whatever other foreign media I can find outside of the consumer cultural wasteland of USA. Same with music -American music has turned to watered down sh1t and taken our culture down the tubes with it.

I feel really sorry for younger people having to shape their views on life growing up nowdays with nothing out of the ordinary or nothing challenging to their safe world view.

Don't watch TV, and I don't like most TV news. I have a soft spot for CBC TV news, but print is much more indepth. I read papers, both hard and online, magazines (The Economist > *) and I listen to CBC 1 almost constantly.

Crap! I just realized that I missed most of Rex Murphy!! Crap!!

I watch the weather and sports from time to time, maybe look at the wires if I feel like the effort, Faux if i'm feeling like some comedy.

Otherwise I agre entirely with steeplerot.

oh yeah.... does back to back to back episodes of sportscenter count?

I can't stand more then a min of any kind of news whether it be sports, crime scene, stocks, or our neighborhood. Its just that some find it very entertaining, and addictive. Like cigarette or beer, you can't stop once you start. We crave it everyday out of boredom, it gives you a sense of well being, all knowing and like you're a part of it but only what they want you to believe rather then what really happened.

The news media makes people feel like their alive, keeps them uninformed and like a community we are all bound by the same rules that keeps us isolated from the rest of the world.
If the news say that all stocks is good and can make anyone rich who is willing to invest all their life's saving. How many will buy into it? you guessed it, most of them if not all since we are so easy to fool due to our lack of self control, irresponsible and insecurity. 🙂

It is a tool used by an organization who is controlling our ways of life and can easily sway one's opinions to one side. Another word for that is mind control. It's working very well!!!
TV is was meant for entertainment only, not to be taken as factual; it never was meant to inform the public about any events but rather to distort the truth from all of us.
There is no way to verify anything said by them because its only gibberish that comes out of someones dirty little mind who likes to play tricks on ya.
