Do you use your turn signals when you drive?

It seems as if you use your turn signals nowadays, you're in the minority.

I'm curious to know why people don't use them.

Always. Well there's the rare chance I don't; so I'll say I use them 95% of the time (turns, switching lanes, everywhere... if I'm changing directions or angles then I'm letting others know).

I would say 95% of the time. I wouldn't claim to be perfect but I think I'm pretty good.

One thing that is big around here is using your signal AFTER you've started/completed your maneuver. That drives me nuts.

I always do and I know I'm in the minority. I noticed something the other day - the shittier the car and trashier/more ghetto looking the driver the less likely that turn signal will ever come on.

I check my rear view and side view mirrors about every 10 seconds. I always know what is around me. If there is someone tailgating me, yes, I'll use my turn signals. If I'm in a busy 4 way stop intersection, yes, I'll used my turn signals. If I'm on a highway merging with lots of traffic, yes I'll use my turn signals. I use them anywhere I believe it's possible to be blamed for a problem if I didn't use them.

On the other hand, if it is 4AM and I'm changing lanes on an empty highway, I will not use my turn signals. Etc. Etc. I am inherently lazy, so to lift my arm to use them if not absolutely necessary is too much work. Must conserve energy for more important things.

Depends on where I'm driving.

For example all joking aside in NYC if you signal all it does is make people close the gap you were planning on moving into.

Don't forget the other end of the car spectrum - plenty of times where I'll see an Audi or something not signal

Thanks everyone. I find it interesting that many people who responded that they 'do' use them explained a bit about why. Whereas the people who say they don't seem like they really couldn't care less what anyone else thinks. Interesting.
