And it still isn't configurable enough. I like tabs on the bottom of the address bar, and I can't do that on GNU/Linux. I suppose I could hack around the user chrome to force it, but that's way too much effort for something Firefox gives me easily.

I have no issues with any default behavior of a browser. The developers should present their product in what they feel is the best configuration. I have a real problem with not being able to change their setup, even if it's something a bit less friendly like about:config.

I fired up IE to see the difference. You're right, it's much easier with IE. The draw back is you lose some screen real estate. Obviously the option to enable the title bar in Chrome would be ideal.

And get a pair of reading glasses, it took me a while to get use to mine but they make all the difference in the world.

Actually, the default mode of IE that has the URL bar with the tabs has more screen real estate than Chrome:

Of course that becomes detrimental if you have a ton of tabs open...
 
Grab the area between opening a new tab, and the min/max/close buttons. Easier than aiming for the small area between tabs.

I never zero-in on tiny spaces unless I have to. I do almost everything with the keyboard. Sometimes, though, my hand is already on the mouse and it makes sense to use that. No other software frustrates my workflow as much as Chrome, but other parts of Chrome work far better than anything else. I just don't know why the Linux version gets this simple option and the Windows version does not.

So I should target a specific (still small) spot near the corner of my screen? That's tedious and defeats the purpose of AeroSnap. Even before AeroSnap, a full-size title bar was extremely useful to me. I could right-click and press x, r, n, or c to perform different actions. I could double-click to maximize or restore. I could double-click the control box in the left corner to close when my mouse is closest to that corner (when I'm reaching for the mouse and my other hand is not on the keyboard).Not what you think, pervert.

To top it off, I could read the title of the current page / window.

I want my titlebar. :colbert:

They mean pretty much the same but I always think that there's a subtle difference in usage.

Difference is subtle and subjective though. I like having extra words, it gives flexibility to the language. It's much more fun swearing in UK English than US English for example.

That is not the ideal outcome. The ideal outcome is that Chrome developers will enable this option in the Windows version as it is for the Linux version.

Obviously, no browser does everything he wants and Chrome comes closest. It might shock you to know that not everyone is nearly as passive and accepting of glaring faults than you are.

I don't use Chrome because I can't use keyboard shortcuts to enter BB code like bold, underline, and italics tags but I'm about to give up on Firefox because of Flash objects refusing to allow me to return focus to the page without clicking in the address bar first (can't even use mouse scroll wheels or touchpad scroll functions).

I'm surprised there aren't more Chromium builds for Windows. Chrome has some compelling features, but the lack of customization really kills the deal. Seems ripe for a good fork.

Yup, this is one of the biggest reasons why when i tried Chrome, i quickly went back to Firefox.

I do NOT use default Firefox layout, i customize how the file/edit/view/etc bar, url bar, search bar, and tabs are placed.

It's amazing how defensive you get regarding your brother, particularly if you think Chrome covers up glaring faults of other browsers. I'd say Chrome is pretty weak in many areas.

It is weak in many areas. Other browsers are weak in a lot of areas too.

For me, Chrome's greatest strength is preserving the state of what I was working on. The last time I checked, Firefox still didn't use separate processes per-tab. Restored tabs in Firefox would lose a lot more state information than Chrome. More recently, I read that the FF team had given up on ever implementing multiple processes per-tab.

I was fed-up with Firefox after it went through multiple major revisions and it would still have 6+ prompts to "Enter the password for the software security device" whenever I open a session with multiple tabs (happens if you have a master password).

My second Firefox cap faded worse than the first. I didn't buy a third one and I only use Firefox for testing now.

I absolutely can't stand users who blissfully ignore glaring faults and accept nonsensical ways to do things rather than demand a proper product for all users. I almost hate it as much as the people who made the broken product in the first place. When I saw that comment, I saw everything that was wrong with the unflinching Apple, Microsoft, and Android fans who refuse to criticize their product of choice and will make excuses for it until they can no more. I subdued my rage and responded with the appropriate attitude to set expectations for the future.

"Defensive of my brother?"

I found this thread because I searched his posts, but the only reason I said anything is because I had something to say. I did not come here to defend anyone. I usually come into his conversations expecting to argue with him, just like we do IRL. I do not share his browser of choice but I do share his ethic of correcting problems instead of ignoring or side-stepping them.

Now can we please return to the topic of what to do and why? Perhaps we could expand it and talk about Chrome's BB Code shortcut problem. I'd love to see that fixed but I don't even see mention of it in the resource my brother linked to.

Anyhow; I'm with the 'I don't see the problem' people. I disliked the removal of the title bar at first (or did Chrome ever have one? I don't remember). But now I appreciate the extra space. Bar not needed.

But I also don't have fifty tabs open. Or feel the constant need to move windows. Or whatever else you people do with the title bar. Aerosnappers and whatsahoosits.

edit: Also, I don't complain about Chrome in general because I have no problems with it. Firefox has been shit for years and Opera still has compatibility problems. Chrome...just works. (lulz)

Except on Android, where it sucks donkey dick. That amuses me.
