Do you use Google Chrome?

Ichinisan

The Linux version has an option to show system title bars. The Windows / Mac versions do not have this option.

If this annoys you, please "star" this issue so it gets more attention from Google devs:

One of the best features of Windows 7/8 is "AeroSnap," which lets you grab the title bar of a maximized window and drag-down to restore to windowed mode, or drag left and right to snap to the sides of the screen. Also, you can drag-up to maximize again. It's a huge help when dealing with multiple monitors; especially when the size / aspect of the monitors is not identical. When you have a lot of tabs open in Chrome, you can't use AeroSnap as intended.

I almost always have 20+ tabs open. It's nearly impossible to grab the title bar when the Chrome window is maximized. Even when it's in a window, the grab area is too thin and difficult to grab-and-drag. If you increase the system DPI setting, Chrome ignores it. 😡

This problem is extremely irritating when you're in a remote desktop session and the auto-hide option bar keeps covering your tabs every time you try to click one of them.

Another less-important benefit: Having the title bar allows me to see the full title of a web page (useful if you have scrolled-down in a Gmail conversation thread). This works as expected in the Linux version of Chrome with system title bars enabled.

I use chrome and I don't understand what the issue is. I use the "aerosnap" of windows 7 quite often without even thinking about it. I've certainly never thought the title bar was too small or the tabs hard to use. Are you using a beta version or something and we're just not seeing the same thing?

i only use it for my job because the debugger in it is awesome. (press F12 to launch it)

firebug for firefox is terrible compared to chrome's debugger.

not sure why i don't use it normally though. i'm just used to firefox and firefox works fine.

No. He has 20+ tabs open which leaves no room between tabs to grab.

That's why Chrome sucks; No reconfigurability. It's the Apple approach to computing. Do it our way, or fuck off.

The reason that this option is available in Linux is because of the multitude of window managers available. Chromium does some funny things in some window managers if that feature is not enabled.

I don't use Aero Snap, but I do use Ultramon which gives you a button (right next to minimize button) that allows you to move the window to another monitor easily. Chrome is the only application that doesn't play nice with this feature and won't show that button.

I don't understand why Chrome is so adamant about not giving this option. The amount of space that is saved from having no title bar is negligible for me. Just give me a standard windows title bar please.

Please help me:

You can still grab between the tabs. I just opened 44 tabs with a 1024 horizontal res and was able to grab it easily.

Same here, no issues with grabbing chrome when in full screen mode. I usually use the small space beside the new tab icon and the minimize -

First world problem I guess.

😕 There's an area above the tabs that you can grab.

No. Unless you want me to grab the tiny areas between the tabs (my poor vision makes that very difficult).

I just tested. The tabs tear-off and the order gets
$#^%
ed when I try to grab the very top unless I carefully and deliberately position my pointer in the tiny little gap between tabs.

I *always* have a ton of tabs open. It's my regular scenario. I'm not the only one that works this way.

You can snap with the keyboard by holding the windows key and pressing left/right/up on the directional pad. I don't think I could live without that shortcut anymore.

I was just about to say this. I opened 40+ tabs, and have no problem whatsoever.

The point is that you shouldn't have to position your pointer in a specific spot. It defeats the point and convenience of AeroSnap. It makes things difficult for people with poor vision or alternative input devices. Keyboard shortcuts are more appealing than zeroing-in on a specific spot to grab.

Alt+Space, R (restore)
Alt+Space, X (maximize)
Alt+Space, C (close)
Alt+Space, N (minimize)
Alt+F4 (close)
Win+LeftArrow (Snap Left, repeat to move across displays)
Win+RightArrow (Snap Right, repeat to move across displays)
Win+DownArrow (Restore or minimize)

I never zero-in on tiny spaces unless I have to. I do almost everything with the keyboard. Sometimes, though, my hand is already on the mouse and it makes sense to use that. No other software frustrates my workflow as much as Chrome, but other parts of Chrome work far better than anything else. I just don't know why the Linux version gets this simple option and the Windows version does not.
