Do you use filters and labels in your Gmail account?

I've got 7 labels about 7 or 8 filters to mark most of my incoming mail so it's all nicely labeled and I can quickly see what I want to get to and what's out of the ordinary. Most of it is mail lists and such that I read, like NASA.

Actually no, for some reason I'm generally slow to figure these things out and adopt things that will make my life easier.

I should probably look into these features..

Now that they've updated the label system with a drag and drop feature, I do plan on using labels more often. It will be nice to have anything school related labeled by class, instead of having to sift through old emails or archives.

of course, how else would you sort your email?

I've got about 15 labels and about as many filters.

I don't get why you'd want to sort your email. What's the point?

For what? How many emails a day you gettin? I could see it if I was getting 50 unthreaded emails, maybe. Still gotta read em all just the same.

for ease of finding. I use labels and filters on gmail the same way I use folders and rules on outlook (and believe me, I do get hundreds upon hundreds of emails every day at work, the vast majority of which I don't read but need to keep archived)

also, there are a lot of emails I don't read right away (ie: I have one specific filter setup for when I email myself things at work to watch/read at home) and I'm a little OCD about keeping my inbox as clear as possible. I don't like anything in there but "active" issues/conversations or as reminders (ie: I have an old email from garmin to remind me to update my gps map someday)

Just a few filters, I really despise having to look in several places for incoming mail. If I don't really want to look at it in the inbox, I unsubscribe. I use tons of labels though.

Just one, my second POP address gets labeled so I can tell it apart from my gmail mail.

I should probably use labels more.

No. I delete what I don't want and leave the rest in my inbox.

I just do a search for whatever I want if I need to find a old message.

Yeah that's a tough one to unsubscribe from😛

I use labels (and filters), but I rarely use multiple labels, since I use primarily IMAP to access my e-mail. Gmail can map labels to folders, but nothing more complicated than that.

I have one filter redirecting emails from my stalker into the Trash. She hasn't emailed me in a couple of weeks now so I guess I can remove it.
