Do you use an LCD?

Do you like it? Can you game in it?

What don't you like about it?

I'm sportin' an old Dell 17" Trinitron from 4 years ago ... just wonderin' ...

KDS Rad 5 here.

It is the best purchase I have ever made. Much better on my eyes and I now have so much for room on my desk. I am not a big (or serious) gamer, but I play CounterStrike and Max Payne on it without any problem.

The only thing I dislike about it is that it is not DVI. Oh well I didn't have a dvi video card when I bought it anyways.

I use a UXGA (1600x1200) 15" Lcd on my lappy and i LOVE it... Its nicer than my 19" trinitron for gaming...

I too have a LCD on my lap. Speaking of which. Recently it started going very dark on the left side. If I turn the computer off for a while it fixes itself. If I just reboot or turn the comp off for a few minutes it is still like that. I just hate to send it to dell right now.

I prefer CRT's for gaming and for surfing.

Yes, I love it. I have a 15" Dell LCD. My only grip is that its got an analog connection only and the resolution is limited to 1024x768. I'm looking to buy one of the 20" Dell LCD that are 1600x1200 and have DVI.

17" Planar LCD here....it can do everything my CRT could do....'cept better.

The lack of flicker is big for me, as I am one of those fools who can see flicker up past 75 hz.

Peace,
Will

I'm just about to jump over to a LCD myself. I have a 19 inch V95 and it's been ok, but has started to go on me. I warrantied it once, and the issue i had with brightness promptly came back again. I am a little scared in that i'm going to go down to a 15inch screen from 19 and i'm worried that it will be too small. My thinking is that the clearer picture and the lack of flicker will make the extra space a relative non-issue for me. My buddy went to an LCD and he swears by it now. I do like gaming too and i think with a low response time LCD it should be great...plus i also play with TV out too which can feed my big screen fix...now if only tv out had a igher resolution...then i'd be happy.

im on a samsung 17 lcd...
i game whenever i can, and it looks great...

back when i got it.. it was 1200 tho.. not a small purchase

worth the money tho..

I used to have a Gateway FPD 1570 (the first analog they sold)

15.7" so it was almost exactly a 17" CRT replacement. I loved it, it played every game I had with no flicker at all.

BruNgoLD, which model do you have? I have the Samsung SyncMaster 170T and LOVE IT!!! 😀

I'm testing a Dell 1503FP with DVI connection (GF3 Ti200) and it looks great. I'm considering permanently trading in my 19" Dell trinitron. If it was a 17" LCD monitor it would be no contest.

I have used them and I don't really like them too much. A friend has a Sony LCD and it's the best I've ever used.

I used LCD once....made me all dizzy, the sky kept melting, and my roommate's head turned into feta cheese. Weird stuff man. Just say no!

I have a Planar 18.1" flat panel, and I love it. Use it for gaming, no problems at all (never seen any kind of ghosting). I use the DVI interface on it, though the flat panel supports both DVI and analog.

Once they can hit 32-bit color and you can choose more than one resolution without it looking like crap, then maybe I'll get one - for now they're just a new toy...
