Sometimes. But I got a machine with a trackpint so I didn't have to. Those damn touchpads are worthless.

First off, I'm speaking only of my work laptop, but I would be fully worthless without my mouse.

Secondly, I would bring it anywhere, even if it weighed 10 lbs.

Those two things being said, "IT'S TOO HEAVY?!?!" Are you insane, or do you have some sort of debilitating disease? What does a heavy mouse weigh? 1lb?

I use one when I have it at my desk, but when I'm on a call, its the touchpad or eraser for me.

I do at work if I'm working on someone's laptop and will be doing a lots of clicking, dragging, etc. If it's just a quick thing then I don't bother. But I do prefer the touchpad style over the pencil eraser style.

Actually, not even close to 1 lb.

For comparison, a corded Microsoft Optical Intellimouse weighs about 2.9 ounces, the Micro Optical Wireless weighs 3.7 ounces, including batteries. Most of the cordless mice that use AA batteries weigh about 4.7 ounces.

Ummm, ok, WTF?
You carry an 10 or 12 lb laptop but you don't want to carry a 2.9 ounce mouse????

The answer to the original question is Yes, I always carry my MS Intellimouse Optical with my laptop. Unless of course I'm going to be in a car or on a plane where there isn't a good surface to put the mouse on. My laptop has both a touchpad and a trackpoint and I can't stand either one of them.

One of the first things I did when I bought my first laptop was to buy a usb optical mouse. After 6 months, I hardly used it, prefering the trackpoint. Now, I can't remember the last time I used it, 3 years later.
