Do you use a dishwasher?

For now, because if we didn't use a dishwasher, dishes would endless pile up in the sink and there would never be any clean dishes. In 2 months, I'll have my own place and be dishwasher-less, but I don't mind cleaning up after myself by hand.

Absolutely not. Dishwasher are wasteful, and do a crappy job of washing dishes. If you're gonna take the trouble of rinsing them off first, you might as well go the rest of the way and wash them properly.

BS - modern dishwashers save water and do a excellent job cleaning and sanitizing dishes.

Yes. Her name is Patty...

Cool! Mine is named Jessica. lol

To be honest, I don't really use the dish washer for its intended purpose, which is cleaning. I clean the dishes myself with a sponge, some soap and some water. If Jessica lets me, I'll use the dish washer as a storage place for dishes and utensils 😛

Yes, it's 10 times faster, more efficient, and more sanitary. It's gross to think that the same old rag gets used up on all dishes during manual cleaning, all you're doing is moving dirt around. Often the same rag that was used to clean the floors, and other stuff will get reused for dishes. That's just gross. Then again, what does not kill you only makes you stronger.

Usually only when company is over. Other than that, I typically just use a couple Tupperware containers for the day, so it's a quick job 🙂

I doubt a dishwasher uses less water than I do, and I know for a fact they don't clean as well. As far as sanitizing goes, I couldn't care less. I have a healthy immune system, and I've never gotten sick from food I've cooked myself(I can't say the same for food bought out :^/)

True. Plus, you're also saving energy by hand-washing.

when it was just me and my wife it was faster to just do them by hands. now that i have 2 kids (well 3 if you count my wife's sister) we do so many dishe's that its better to just use the dishwasher.

I used to loathe them; expending water and juice for semi-clean flat ware and utensils seemed so lame.

But my current house came with this badass Bosch dishwasher that actually does a great job. I've really come to dig it, and love that the controls are concealed on the upward edge of the door, so all you see from the outside is brushed stainless.

Large items, anything cast iron or wood, and my collection of fine knives are never deposited within for cleaning though..... never!
