Mine is my primary as well. I actually want a landline though, so I can talk locally and not worry about going over my minutes....but, like others have said, I'm not gonna pay a second phone bill.

Going into my fourth year of no landline. I've had cell service through AT&T, Cingular, and T-Mobile. AT&T was okay but their customer service sucked (wrongly billed me $500 and wouldn't fess up to their mistake). Cingular reception in my area was terrible. So far I like T-Mobile, through AT&T's reception had just a few less dropped calls.

$10/month, 2 phones, 2000 anytime mins per phone.

I do have a landline, however most people get ahold of me by calling my cellphone. Being out all the time with the ladies, you know...

Is there a way to make phone lock automatically once the free minutes expire??

I have DSL and I am not sure I can dump land line. Both from SBC.

We dumped our landline 2 years ago, never been happier. Its kind of redundant to have a landline AND a wireless phone, especially since wireless gives you free ld anyway.
I really want to dump my landline but the 2 things making me keep it:

1) emergencies (like 911 or the big blackout in NYC)... cell phones no workie then... landline kept us in communication

2) what do you tie your utilities into ? Cable company ? You give them all your cell# ? And also if a company needs to call you back... you have to give them your cell #... yikes.

#1 you can't really help, but how do you live with #2 ? Run across any problems like that ?

I pay $18/mo. for 0 calls on my landline... it's not outrageous so we've kept it so far...
anybody on #2 ?

It can be a bit of a hassle, the reps sound a little confused when you tell them that the only contact number you have is an out of state cell phone number from Utah when you are trying to get cable service in Pennsylvania:)

Comcast is the only one that gave me trouble, their phone system is tied in so that it redirects you to the local office depending on your phone number, had some confusion the first time I called since they couldn't find my PA address in UT. I just learned to type in a fake number when they ask for it, I used the number for the pizza place down the street. And since they ask for your address and stuff again when the rep comes on the line it doesn't make a difference.

Oh and Dominos won't deliver to a cell phone. I just got Pizza Hut or a local place instead.

Nope, no signal at all where I live. Although Verizon said a tower would be built in the area by 1998. They even showed me a chart, including said tower. Six years later, no tower and no signal. :disgust:

Cingular sucks. The rollover minutes are nice but the cell phone reception is crappy as hell. loud bleeps all the time when your talking. I would consider Sprint or a TDMA carrier of some sort. Also With Cingular you get cellphones that cause interference with telephone lines and radio signals.

yup. pretty much since I entered college, 5 years ago.

$45/month with Verizon. never had an issue with running out of minutes, but a) almost everyone I know uses a Verizon cellphone, so free in-network comes into play, and b) I'm a guy, so very few of my conversations last more than 60 seconds ;) it's also nice to have kept the same telephone number throughout the past 5 years, despite having lived in 6 different apartments spread across 2 different states.

no big deal when company comes over. I just give them my phone :)

as for cons... it's never happened to me, but I bet it would suck if you lost your phone.

Knowing people that have the same plan is a great advantage...I wish the friends I had with cell phones had the same type so the in plan option would pay off !!!
