yupperz...forced to learn in HS to pass a word processing class...of course i appreciated it much later when i started hitting IRC and email...😛

I type with nine when doing paragraphs but since I type around 90wpm with two fingers I usually do that over the nine.. ah.. who said you have to use all your fingers anyway because I can type accurately and fast with just the index fingers although if you switch keyboards on me I'm screwed and have to use 9..

heh its funny to see CEO/CTO's that can't type. I've been typing since 79, so its second nature to me. All of my fingers do the dance on their own. Lights on/no lights, whatever. I manage 120+ WPM.

By the way, good reason to type, big muscular hands, my gf truly enjoys the strength, etc 🙂 good for givin the girl a hand job.

I usually use 9 but i sprained my left index finger so i am down to 8. Makes it a lot harder to type if you are used to 9.

I use all ten but I've been told I type the B with the wrong hand (or the right hand...depending on how you look at it)

---edit---

Ah, I see people are putting their speeds here too...Mine is 120 wpm or 65 wpm using the right hand alone.

I use 9 most of the time, I noticed that I don't space with my left thumb very often. I don't look at any keys when I type, and average 100 wpm+ 🙂 However, the backspace key is the key that I am most familiar with 😀😱

Yep, I use all 10.

On a related note, I found it very annoying when I got my Microsoft Natural Elite keyboard. Being an ergonomic keyboard, the keyboard was split into two halves. It was okay for every key except the "Y" key, which I always press with my left index finger. (I do more typing with my left hand than my right, even though I'm right handed.) On this keyboard, though, the "Y" key is on the right-hand side. So I'd be typing along, and all of a sudden my left hand would jump to hit the "Y" key on the other side!! I have finally trained myself to do it with my right hand, but it slowed me down there for quite some time.

I dunno about you guys, but I only have 8 fingers, the other two are thumbs... so if you are asking if I use all Fingers then yes, I do. If you are asking if I use all 10 filanges then no, I only use 9 because I never use my left thumb.

Why do the americans use WFP???? Here in Switzerland, we use keystrokes... I get about 250-300... 9 fingers of course...

Damn! I just tested it out and I type all f'ed up! I don't use my right thumb for space. My left does the space. I use all five fingers on my left hand but I hardly use my middle and fourth on my right. My typing style is all messed up but I can type about 40-50WPM. Go figure.

<< I've mastered the art of typing and surfing the net with only 1 hand 😀😉😱 >>

Ummmm... afraid to ask what the other hand is doing?? :Q😉

I type with 9 (never use left thumb for space bar), and can easily hit 155wpm using a QWERTY keyboard layout, and ~175+ using a Dvorak keyboard layout.

I've been tested w/ formal typing tests, those cheesed online typing tests, software typing tests (Mavis Beacon et. al), and I always come in around the same speed.
