Do you turn your computer off when you're away from it or at night?

I turn mine off at night when I go to bed and then turn it on again when I get up in the morning. I've just recently moved to the United States from a desert island and just now learned that Energy Star appliances are more efficient than I thought they would be.

I was just wondering if y'all left your machines on 24/7 or shut them down when you were away for awhile and the reasons for your logic.

I would love to leave it on... nekkid cracking an all. Problem is the damn electricty bills have gone up 100% this last year even without the computer on. Friggin rise in fuel prices.

I went through about 3 months of leaving it on for around 23.9 hours a day :)P), but then we got the electricty bill. Now I turn it off at night.

It's still on for around 16 hrs a day though.

I have to turn it off at night now because my new bedroom is smaller and it makes to much noise for me.

I just hit the power button to put it into hibernate mode at night time. Wake up, smack the mouse, go to the bathroom, and the puter is ready for me to check my email when I get back.

Mine are crack machines, off-site BDC's from work, and web servers. Can't turn them off :)

My Server Tower is on 24/7... but my primary computer is shut off at night. It takes like 30seconds to boot in the morning, and I get a fresh memory allocation to start the day. I think my parents would kill me if I left my dual 19" monitors on all night (even on standby) ;).
