Do you trust the Northern Alliance?

Of course not.

Didn't the US originally put Saddam Hussein in power in Iraq to squelch neighboring Iran? The Northern Alliance are considered "allies" only because they are not Taliban.

I trust niether the Taliban nor the NA. But given that the NA is the lesser of the 2 eveils, we can trust them to take the Taliban out.

NA already proved that they could do a great job destroying that country (1982 thru taliban takeover). I say cleanse the land and let someone else try to lead, but we all know that wont happen.

They have already said that they will attack Pakistan for supporting the Taliban as soon as they have control so just what is there to trust???

We will be in the middle of that also. Why do you think we are moving more assets into the area.

Like GoodToGo said the NA is the lesser of two evils. They didn't aid the lunatics who slammed two jetliners into the WTC buildings.

Dostum isn't all that great either. Keeps switching alliance. He once ordered a man accused of stealing to be tied to the treads of a tank and the tank to run all over with the guy still attached.

Northern Alliance is currently executing people in Mazr el Sharf--Chechens, and Uzbeks, even stray Pakis that supported the Taliban.
The same damn thing they did when the Soviets unassed Afghani. They executed hundreds of Pashtun majority Afghans. These atrocities helped create the Taliban.
To them it's "Miller Time"--and time for payback.
They are creating new problems not just for Afghans, but us, their "allies"

Can you say "Peacekeeping Force"
To be followed by "Quagmire aka ClusterFck"

The British lost an entire Army Corps in the 19th century trying to bring order to Afghan. The tribes united and pushed out the British. They-Brits- quickly discovered they could still in effect "rule" Afghan if they just selected certain warlords/tribal chieftains to support and let the people continue to war amongst themselves like they have been for thousand years.

I know we almost HAVE to back the NA, but I am concerned about how a government made up of ethnic MINORITY can fairly govern an ethnic MAJORITY.
