Senator Salaries: approx 100K (BTW, they get to vote on whether they deserve a raise?)
Approx same for house
And Pres gets about 200 G's
POINT: Many of our senators earned a buttload more cash than that before they joined Congress.
POINT: They spend anywhere half a million bucks to 3 millions bucks to get relected every 2,4,6 years.
So, why would you spend 2 million to get a 100k a year job? Please don't be naieve and say respect or prestige?
Basically, our senators and Congressman will suck American Business dry for kickbacks in order to get their legislatiosn passed. Lower tarriffs, preferential trade status, etc...
Now, I will touch on the PRESIDENT some. He makes 200K. FYI, BUSH and AL GORE will spend approx 300 million a piece trying to get elected to a 200K a year job.
Some things to note: Much of that money is matched from Gov't. Up to 40 million<--Those are your taxes.
Half of the money will come from SOFT money. Any money that I or you give to these clowns is regular contributions. An inidiviual like me can only give 1000 dollars max! This includes Bill Gates.
Hypothetical situation--Bill Gates needs to hire a bunch of Indian and PAkistani computer Geeks. He has to try to lobby Gov't to get more High education Visas issued.
He asks Bush if i give you a 1000 bucks will you do it? Bush says go F yourself.
So then Bill Gates uses a 20th century tool created by the Rich and Powerful to get Richer and more POWERful. These are called PAC's
P.A.C.'s = Political action committees. These are small groups that can form for a purpsoe and then give unlimited amounts of money to Candidates(in return for something of course). THIS IS SOFT MONEY!!
Examples of PAC's are the NRA, Tobacco industry, PRO LIFERS, etc...
So, why all this info?
Because the 300,000,000 americans that live in this country are about as powerful as my left nutsack.
Gore and Bush will collect over 150 million a piece(half the total money they will get) from PAC's. And they will owe these PAC's.
When you go to a 1000 a plate dinner to help support your leader thsts awfully sweet of you and maybe some of your concerns will be heard. However, when Phillip Morris writes George Bush a check for 4.5 million, you can bet Morris is getting something in return??? And it better not be just a little sack of weed and some head
So do you believe your leaders? Only if what you want happens to coincide with what the people who pay our senators and Congressmen want. And no I'm not talking about US citizens.
