do you trust paypal?

I trust it enough to link it to my bank account, because I know they're not going to steal my money. I don't trust it enough to accept it as payment, because from what I've heard on this forum, it's very easy for a buyer to scam a seller.

that's kind of weird, so its ok if you pay someone with it but not ok when someone pays you with it?

heeeeeeeeeeeell no i dont trust it.

i did link my checking account to it. I only use it to send my balance to it. NEVER EVER EVER use your bank account to pay for stuff. paypal is useless if you get scammed, if you use cc you can always dispute the charges

I have a checking account devoted to paypal. There is never more than a few dollars <$3 in there at anytime.

No.

I asked my credit union to open a new checking account, which we use solely for eBay/Paypal transactions.

Transferring funds between that account to our main checking account.

i have it linked to my checking, and i typically keep a little cash in my paypal account

you got it the other way around... if i scam someone and transfer the money to my bank account, there is NOTHING paypal can do. the person i scammed is screwed because paypal wont take the hit.

PayPal is the best thing since sliced bread. No more having to wait for a money order. With a couple of clicks money is transfered and goods are shipped. I have my account linked to my personal checking account. I only do business with verified PayPal users and I will only shipped to confirmed addressed. If you do those two things I would find it hard to believe that you could be scammed.

If someone pays you by credit card to your paypal account, and they dispute it. Do they just zap the money out, or do they contact you first?

Basically... yeah. If someone is willing to take the risk of accepting Paypal, of course I'll use it. I know I'm not going to scam them. But there have been lots of threads here about sellers getting scammed by buyers who said they never received the item or whatever.

The seller could do the same as well, say they sent the item and not refund the money.

Yes and no... I trust them not to be some fly-by-night operation where I'll suddenly find my bank account empty. OTOH though, they almost always side with the person transferring money - meaning if someone buys something off you and then decides to rescind their payment for no reason, paypal will generally side with them. Friend of mine got swindled out of $400 that way. Their new fees are bs as well.

i trust paypal but would link it only to my credit card, not bank account.

(how do you withdraw money paid to you anyway - if I withdraw to my bank account which is free... is it then "linked" to it for good also ?)
