Restaurants should just automatically apply an 18% mandatory gratuity to all take-out orders and spare us these kind of arguments. :sneaky:

I tip when food is brought to a table by wait staff or to my house by a delivery person.

How many "nice" restaurants do take out??

I do drop a couple bucks, however. When you get takeout from a sit-down restaurant, the order is usually packaged by waitstaff. Obviously you're using far less resources and time than a full table so a full 15-20% is not necessary, but a few bucks is a nice gesture.

I just stopped going out to eat because I realized that my health got better, I found a healthy hobby with cooking which my family also seem to enjoy with me.

On the evil side, I get pleasure from watching the shitty restaurants around me close up. The good ones are still packed and doing well. Its always the shitty places with the crap waiters and nonchalant managers.

Couple bucks usually depending how much we are ordering...never anywhere near what I'd tip if we were eating in the restaurant.

How are you guys so fucking cheap and turn a tipping situation into a long debate.

If you feel like tipping, tip. Those people don't make much, give them a break, maybe they deserve a tip.

If it's a takeout only place, no I don't tip unless they did something special for my order. I will tip if it's takeout from a place with a bar and the bartender is the person I am dealing with. I figure the bartender is losing tips by helping me instead of a patron who is drinking so I'll usually leave what I would leave for a drink, a dollar.
