Do you tip when getting take-out from a nice restaurant?

I've heard that it's recommended, but all the staff has to do is pick up your food from the kitchen and package it. In fact, I don't know if the chef packages it or not. So that means that all they have to do is run the food out to you, and ring you up.

So do you? Or don't you?

No, unless you tip the person making the food as well as the waiter.

I have never tipped for take out - nor would I tip the person who got it for me unless their trip to get my food involved a bear, ice skates, mayonnaise and a hammer

I have considered leaving a tip in the tip jar of two local places that make really really good food for what I would consider really cheap

If the service is prompt and courteous and the order correct, I tip. If the staff start a new thread concerning this topic after the multiple pissing matches this topic has spawned in the past on ATOT, then no, I don't tip.

Working at Subway, I get tipped once in a while. Usually the extra change to round up to the next dollar. Some people just hate change in their pocket.

I do not tip at BK, McDee's, Jackinbox, or whatever else. That is just dumb. There is no plates or drinks to replenish.

Now, I do tip the young girl at the Chinese take out because she it hot. :)
