Not moronic at all. Dry cleaners have a small variance in quality of service from employee to employee at the same place. All they have to do is stand in one place and push a button until your clothes show up, and dump your clothes into a bag when you turn them in, for example.

Mail man can't accept tips because that would most likely be illegal.

If you have ever been to a country where gratuity is automatically included in the bill, you would see why it's important. Every place I've been to where it was the rule had much, much worse service for the most part.

Tipping isn't for them preparing your food, it's for the service you get. When you do take out, you don't get much service except a "Here's your food". I never tip at take out places.

To answer your question I will never tip when taking carryout. I also don't pay until I have my food ready in a bag sitting next to me.

Food tip - No matter where I go to eat chilies or some fine steak house you get $2.00 unless gratuity is forced.

Haircuit - Cut it correctly - $4.00 / Screw up - you give me a free haircut and no tip.

Taxi - Well the very few times I took one I had a set standard of $3.00

You cheap bastard. You should tip at least 15% when dining out unless the service was horrible. Unless you only eat everywhere once you will earn a reputation among food servers as a poor tipper and will probably receive bad service or hopefully spit in your food. :evil:

I suspect you had one or two people tell you that they don't want a tip in one country and then assumed it was true in all countries. It definitely was not true in Paris when I went. On the other hand, when I went to places like barbados where they include gratuity, the service was god awful even in a 4 star hotel.
