Got the idea from the pizza thread, someone said they tipped 2 bucks on a pickup order. I never tip pickup orders.

I tipped 2 bucks on a thai take out order last night too. I would generally stiff for take out order, but I'm a regular there so I can't have them looking at me like a cheapass =X

$2 extra for them picking up the phone, handing me a bag, and not spit in my food. fuck tipping.

The common arguments:

1) You're a horrible human being if you don't tip these poor underpaid peoples
2) They still do all the same work, ie take your order, bag up your stuff, and not spit in your food
3) They are unable to provide excellent service without tips

I tip my local Mexican place when I pick up orders. Mostly because their food is awesome & dirt cheap anyway, so I want to help them stay in business.

F the restaurant owners for causing this in the first place. Pay your workers an actual wage. Some restaurants say they get a good enough wage already and no tip is necessary. Common restaurants like Noodles & Co. If they can do it...

On the flip side some waiters know they make out better with the tipping system. F them too.

No. I have to pick up the food, I have to clean up the food, I have to get my own drinks- screw that. It's basically saying "Pay me more than I'm asking you to pay for no extra benefit".

What the waitress makes in wages is neither here or there. You tip for the quality of service (ie: were you greeted, did they take your order timely, did the food arrive timely, was the order correct etc.). If all you are doing is picking up your to go order, the minimal service provided is expected and should not require tipping. Sorry but we customers work hard for our money too.

Never.
I tip very well in circumstances where historically you tipped for service.
I'm not tipping a cashier at a takeout place.

If I have to pick up/handle the food = no tip. I would put in a buck or two if I was in a good mood.

Do you guys tip the cashier if you pick up food at a buffet to go? Just saying.

I'm mostly frugal overall, but I'll tip on take out every now and then if it's a small business that I regularly go to. I feel a little weird leaving a small amount, but I figure that does add up eventually.

Yeah... I used to supervise at a dine-in/take out place. We didn't get paid well and I was grateful for even $1 for an order that made it to the cooking crew. Waiters never shared any tips. So I usually leave a dollar, but I get why people don't.

When I worked take out, even 50 cents felt good.

If you are so worried about spit in your food, better cook at home than eat at restaurants.

If you are going to eat fast food or just have, don't click.

I seen my fat ass nasty ho oger of an absolutely disgusting person spit in a guys hamburger once at Burger King. I mean she just didn't hack one on the burger, she let it drool from her NASTY! fat ass mouth. If I had any sense as a stupid 17 year old I would have reported it.

If there is a hell she needs to go there awhile. Still bugs the shit out of me all these years latter at the age of 36.
