I don't care about a correctly political answer. Tell the truth.

Yeah for most people around me.

My fiancee is leaps and bounds smarter than me. I also know which of my friends are smarter than me.

No, I work with many people with multiple PHDs in everything from Physics, EE, CE, CS, Math
Not to mention some all out genuises. So when it comes to the people I work with no I don't
think I am smarter than them. Matter of fact I am in taken back by alot of the knowledge.

On the other hand, I am probably smarter than alot of my friends(outside of work). But I don't think they would
argue with me on that.

My brother is probably the only person I have talked to in a long time that is as smart/smarter than me.
I'm not a jerk, I'm just really smart.
However, I have met plenty of people who are more knowledgeable than me in many areas.

Knowledge!=smart

My fiancee is smarter than me but in so many areas, I can put her to shame in knowledge. I can usually beat her in trivial pursuit and any general knowledge game.

BUT when it comes to using knowledge, creating new ideas, and assessing ideas, she is beyond me. Not to say I am stupid but she is just smarter.

My mom is a person that is VERY VERY smart but is a complete idiot on finances. She also didn't have anything higher than a high school education but just by talking with her over the years, I know she is very bright.

I guess it boils down to if you consider, knowledge as being smart or being able to use the knowledge as being smart.

I know plenty of people that could memorize buttloads of info and beat my ass on tests in college but they couldn't use a damn thing they learned.

i'd have to say i'm smart--but from where i come from, it's easy (northeast nebraska)

no one could come near me in high school, but then the United States Military Academy opened my eyes WIDE

heh...now I know i'm above average, but after getting off the farm, man, there's just some hardcore smarties out there....

oh, and here, of course...

My roomate is pretty damned sharp, though he doesn't use it very constructively. I think he might be one of those true geniuses that just doesn't do anything. I'm smart, I haven't run across anything that has truly humbled me, except for that insane test someone had online.

😉

Yes, you should see this idiot sitting next to me, that I am supposed to "assist" for work, he is watching a divx copy of collateral damage, this is a break from listening to his 400+mp3's (illegally obtained) at work, off of our connection. Hot girl in the office tho...

Depends on how you measure smart. And who I'm around. If we're just talking general population, yeah. I beat the heck of the educational system, so if my college transcript is any record, yes. I have a high degree of common sense and a pretty good sense of what makes a logical argument. I'm people-smart, able to determine what's wrong relationally, more than I am system-smart, like math or science. IQ-wise, I'm probably beat out by a lot of you here in AT. I'd guesstimate my IQ at between 5 and 25 points above normal, and I know many people smarter than that. It really depends on how you measure it.

I wouldn't say smarter. I would say that I think things through more thoroughly and therefore make better decisions than most of the people around me. This gives the appearance of intelligence, but it really isn't.
