First world countries don't kill people.

In 100 years time people in America are going to look back on execution like you do on stuff like slavery thinking, "How the fucked did intelligent people let this happen?"

Hang em high. The only problem is we dont put enough people to death.

Break into a house - Death Penalty.
Armed Robbery - Death Penalty.
Steal a Car - Death Penalty.
Crime with a Firearm - Death Penalty.

More like they'll look back and the parole system and be like "whoa I can't believe those retards would let out repeat offenders like that!"
if there's no room left in jail, start mass executions.

I have an awesome idea. Put a hard limit on how many people can be in prison. Let's say 1% of the population, so about 3 million. When there's no room left, the person with the longest time remaining is executed. Just to be fair, a person would need to spend at least 5 years in jail before being executed (double check everything and appeal in that time). This would bring the US prison population way down.

Yes, I do - the death penalty stops repeat offenders 100% of the time.

The death penalty is the only punishment that is 100% effective.

This.

+ the fact life in prison costs more.

and + the fact, once a murder, always a murderer.

how many people convicted of life sentences live a quiet life in prison?

I like how THAT's the solution rather than maybe seeing if we could put fewer people in jail...

Innocent people have been executed and will continue to be executed. You don't have a problem with that?

You must be one of those mushy headed religious people who thinks that there is such a thing as a second chance at life after death.

So if someone steals your car, we should just not put them in jail. I support this idea 100%

Don't be stupid. I'm talking about the large number of people in jail for non-violent offenses related to drugs and other things that I couldn't care less about people getting sent to prison for. We have among the largest prison populations in the entire world, is that because Americans are particularly criminal? Or maybe we just send people to prison for stupid things...

It's a fact that people are wrongfully convicted. The question is what you want to do with these people. Do you want an innocent man to be executed or do you want an innocent man to be held in jail for 30 years where he will be repeatedly beaten and gang raped by other in mates?

I think death is more humane. When I see an injured animal on the side of the road, I bash its head with a pipe rather than try to rape it because killing it shows mercy.

How about having a robust appeals process? That's a bit hard to do when the person in question is dead...

Liberals often suggest that the high crime rates are caused by extremely lopsided income distribution. The poorest Americans are waaaay worse off than the poorest Canadians or the poorest French, and that makes them desperate and dangerous.

What does that have to do with the number of people in prison for things I'm not sure they should be like non-violent drug offenses?

Well I don't care about drug offenses but I still care about actual crimes. Some liberal will say "but stealing a car is a non-violent offense!" and my response is that I don't give a shit. Anyone who steals my car deserves to be killed. People who break into houses should be killed. I always smile when intruders are shot dead by home owners.

And yes there is a relation between poverty and crime.

Poor people make up the overwhelming majority of those behind bars as 53% of those in prison earned less than $10,000 per year before incarceration.
Less than 10k basically means unemployed. Unemployed people who are desperate do desperate things like steal cars or break into houses.

There's only a little over 2 million people in prison in the US.

There's only a little over 2 million people in prison in the US.

22 long rifle sales for around $20 for 550 rounds.

$20 / 550 = .036 per round

.036 * 2,000,000 = $72,000

$72,000 to eliminate 2 million people out of the prison system seems like a good deal to me.

Yeah, so because these people are so desperate to survive, they makes mistakes, and you think they deserve to die for that?

What kind of sick fuck are you?

I don't; it's too damn expensive, you can kill the wrong person, and it's race/class biased. It's also taking the role of a higher power.

I think some people deserve(d) the ultimate punishment (at least an absolute majority of people who have been Heads of State, for sure), but it should still be abolished for the reasons above.

The only objective reason though, is that the wrong person will be killed sometimes. There are only two objective reasons in favor of it. Do those outweigh the one reason against it?

If that less than 1% of misfortune that the wrong guy was executed out weighs the fact that 99% deserves to die because of their actions then we should stop all executions. Instead we should just send them all your way and live with you since you believe 1% weighs more than 99%! We can never have a perfect system (otherwise we'll all be called Jesus), but a 1% imperfection doesn't make it entirely wrong.

And for those who argues death penalty is not a deterrent, then prove to me prisons or jails are deterrent and I might sell you a bridge. Otherwise, we might as well get rid of prisons for there's no doubt after thousand of years, it's still not a deterrent

The only thing positive about the death penalty, is that unless the convict who was executed is a close relative of Jesus Christ or himself, I seriously doubt he'll come back to life! I mean even after the 3rd day!!!

If I would of seen the guy that stole my car in the act I would of shot him dead with no remorse.

So yes I support the death penalty and wish MI had it.

So you believe it's OK to take advantage of your fellow human being and even to point of murdering him or her because you are desperate to survive? Wow! Is there a legal law you are basing this on? Seriously, it seems that the only concern you have is the villain and never with the victim. Well of course, the victim is dead and doesn't have any right? Right? Sure, dead people don't have any rights, as long as it's a progressive point of view! You sound exactly like Rep Weiner of NY! Dead people are just that, dead! And guess what? What goes around, comes around!

The death penalty is the only punishment that is 100% effective.

There are certain cases where it's really just silly not to execute. How about the guy that cut the kids head off on the grey hound bus... are we really going to keep him alive until he dies of natural causes?

There's plenty of people who are just lost causes. What is the point of life in prison? It's just not cost effective and just prolongs the inevitable.

people proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt for heinous crimes including murder and pedophilia should just be put down. There are points of no return and they crossed them. No point making tax payers pay 25-30k per year to keep them alive.

To clarify, I was referring to the car stealing, not the murdering.

If you thing someone deserves to die for stealing a car then you're a nut. It's just a thing, it's replaceable.
