I don't think cell voip will be available in my lifetime, but maybe my great grandson will have it.
As for straight voip, I think that is an awesome technology. I am ordering ours from Vonage on the 3rd. Can't beat $25 a month for unlimited calls.

3G has been the next big thing for almost 10 years now. It's more hype than anything else.

The only thing holding back VOIP phones is that wifi spectrum is unregulated and its range isn't as good. If you solve those problems then it will be a better and cheaper solution that 3G.
