Do you think they will piss the 2 things about hl2 that annoy me the most??

They can be excessive on slower systems/HD's. My roommate's 1700+ with a 40GB 7200 rpm HD takes awhile to load levels (when he had 256MB of RAM it would take 5 minutes to load the game and it was too choppy to play... upon upgrading to 512MB it's down to about 1 minute and runs well on his 9600.)

I have a 74GB Raptor and I think it makes a big difference. The game does take awhile to load when I first open it, but that's about 15 seconds (whereas most other games are only a couple). 10K RPM really helps those load times.

No no, the loading time (the initial load, when HL2 is run for the first time) should be long, since they havn't finished downloading yet. All the other loads from then on are bearable. If you're talking about the in-between-level loads, yeah, they're annoying has hell, but unless Valve expects everyone to have 2 terbytes of RAM, it's a must.

put -console in hl2 launch properties (target line thing) and it wont load the animated menu screen at the beginning.

The menu screen at the beginning pissed me off, so I turned it off. As for the actual game time loads, Doom3 took much longer and sucked. And the cd check thing, it wouldnt be needed if people would stop pirating every game that comes out. Seriously, if you're that cheap you shouldnt be a gamer in the first place.
