No, high tech folks get paid HIGH salaries cause they sacrificed their teenage years studying while you minimum wage folks spent your time having fun in school chasing girls and getting drunk.

so you are implying that high tech folks have absolutely no life?

ps: chasing girls is fun though. saw another hot one today...damnnnn

if only i was a few years younger...she looked no more then 20

This thread would be more funny if it read

"Are high tech workers paid more because hookers are expensive?"

Most "high tech folks" that I know don't consistantly buy new pc parts or set up new machines.

What's your definition of "high salaries" anyway?

35,000+

how is 35K high? 😕😕😕

well, 30K is average....

Where do you get these numbers?

From a stats lady who came to a conferences for the unemployed many months ago...

Well, I guess 35k is high if you're not making anything. 🙂

What's your definition of high tech? I'm thinking that maybe you're considering talking on a telephone in a call center to be "high tech." There's no way a real high tech person (in my opinion) would accept $35k Canadian or even US dollars.

no. i don't. i would consider system administration, programming, etc and just about any job in the telecom industry as high tech.

for a minute i thought that you were talking about highly paid technology technicians, which can be quite different that someone just in the hightech field.

That's a high salary? That's practically the minimum for any job requiring a college degree.
What would you consider highly paid then?
$100k!
i seriously doubt there are any high tech folks making that amount / year
None at all???!

I know of at least one EE whose very close to that number... eight months out of school... with a PhD... going into his second job... doing researchy kind of work.

Too bad he lives in Southern California or he might begin to feel rich. 😀

If "having a life" consists of only chasing girls and getting drunk, then yeah. My ex roomates "had a life" back in college... well one has a degree in mechanical engineering and is making <$30k doing warehouse work, while the other has a econ degree, and is working for a software company doing QA work.
