So, I'm thinking about getting an iPad because it is getting iOS4.whatever with multitasking, and apple has relaxed their appstore policies.

Thing is, I don't want to get screwed over by getting one right before a refresh. A bunch of rumors have been going around of a new iPad coming out sometime in the fall, in time for holiday shopping. Do you think this is just one of the many stupid apple rumors? Or, do you think there's a chance of this happening?

an Apple rumor? Right before the holidays?

I have a rule of never putting off a purchase because of something that MIGHT come out.

Probably won't happen until next year I'd say but I'll sell you mine if I'm wrong (32GB WiFi + 3G). :D

Apple refreshes the iPhone once a year, who's to say they wouldn't follow suit with the iPad too?

That's the joy with Apple. They can sell you a model at full price the day before releasing the updated version just because it's hard to know when that version is coming out.

It's only recently that the leaks have become more reliable, but Apple rumors like the Verizon/T-Mo iPhone show how hit or miss they are.

I highly doubt there will be a new iPad in 2010. 2011, definitely. 2012 too.

The time to release a product in time for Christmas is now...

I believe they will announce something in the Feb/Mar 2011 timeframe.

Apple never releases a refresh of a product in the same year. They are yearly refresh practically ALWAYS.

This, usually. Also, they don't seem to be in the habit of refreshing their products for the holidays. Makes sense - most of their products are in heavy demand regardless and don't need a refresh to boost holiday sales. It's the perfect opportunity to sell off old stock and make room for an upgraded model in the next year.

Yep, no new iPads, till 2011.

They would have announced during iPod release for Christmas sales.

As it is they can't keep up with demand...

Prolly just gonna add webcam to it or something.

I'm sure they'll double the ram to 512 mb...

OK, people, my rational side said it was bullcrap, but my emotional side hoped it was true. Thanks for crushing my dreams :(

Apple products are like Jeeps, they hold their value pretty well for gadgets, just take the plunge and buy one.

I really enjoy mine... Am waiting patiently for the jailbreak/unlock for iOS 4.2

I like my iPad too. Buy and then EBay it when something better comes out. As Pliable says Apple stuff holds it's value improbably well. Consider it a $50-100 rental. :) just keep the box and put a case on it.

I still don't understand why people pay so much for used, old Apple stuff.

I'm not knocking it...heck....I'm kind of jealous.

I've never understood it either - that's why I say "improbably well". It's never made any sense to me why people will pay so much for used stuff that you can price it close to what you paid for it... after a year's worth of use.

There's a lot of demand for used Apple gear since a lot of people like Apple stuff but are unable or unwilling to pay brand-new prices for it. This is enhanced by the perception that Macs somehow have a longer useful life than other PCs.

LOL, this is precious. You are afraid of getting an Apple product that is going to be obsolete as a MATTER OF FACT (it's their business model) with the time difference of a couple of months in any case.

What's next for you, tax evasion or immortality? Let us know.
