Me and my friend were talking about this, we are really into the old mob movies llike Godfather, we also like Sopranos a lot. But with todays FBI, and since john Gotti was arrested, do you think organized crime of that level exists anymore? we came to the conclusion most crime today is small time and mostly unorganized. What do you guys think?

Yes it does and they just netted over 40 members about 2 weeks ago in a major sting in New York

I think it does. I think it's just at a much lower and subtle level.

That, and corporations still exist. ;)

Proabably, and if so, I'm interested in taking back control of what is rightfully mine, at least the italian side of it. Then once I'm set I'll show them silly chinese/russian/gangsta's what organized really means.

yup, it still does...Big time gangsters are still around today..watch Casino =oP ever heard of Steve Wynn? CEO of Mirage Resorts in Las Vegas. His daughter was kidnapped awhile back for a HUGE ransom, and though they recovered her safely, the kidnappers were never to be seen again... I can only imagine all the cruel torture that they had to undergo...

Hell yes they do. I dated this Sicilian girl with a last name of Lucia here in San Diego. Her Grandpa would tell all these stories about the Mafia back in New York at the fvckin' dinner table. I thought for sure I would never make it home a few times. I was so damn paranoid that someone was following me.

Hollywood is always a few years behind what's really going on in organized crime. Though Italian mafia types might not be as powerful as they once were, the Russian Mafia is alive and kicking in NYC.
