I know it did.

There is nothing laissez-faire about the Constitution. The Articles of Confederation was laissez-faire, however.

There were the neoconservative neo-mercantilist men who designed the Constitution (Hamilton and his NE banksters) and their intellectual heirs (Clay, Lincoln, Reagan) vs. the laissez-faire liberals/paleocons and their heirs (Jefferson, Jackson, Cleveland).

Of course it was but they did not give Corporations citizenship.

Republicans did that under Bush.

As dmcownen points out, the definition of the terms has changed considerably since the founding fathers ratified the constitution. There is no way they could have even conceived of a modern corporation being given all the privileges of a citizen without any of the responsibilities. Until the last century corporations were kept on a very tight leash.

However, I think it's pretty safe to say most of them believed in having a ruling class led by wealthy and well educated white men. Pretty much the corporate attitude today as well.

Yes. Our founding fathers wrote the Constitution to limit freedom of trade. They all got together because they saw how the Articles of Confederation were letting people propser beyond their wildest dreams and wanted a part of the money they were making.
