Landing something small like a 172 isn't that bad. Full flaps, 65 knots, and just ease it in. Just before you hit the runway apply some rudder to correct for a crosswind and pull back on the stick to bring the nose up a bit. The instructor gave me complete control on my second ever attempt. It was a nice day though but it's not all that hard.

Yes, i think so. I just took a ride in a small cessna with a friend, and it didn't look to much different then any flight simulator i've tried.

Yes, I've played countless hours of Microsoft Flight Simulator and flown real planes on a couple occassions (but never actually landed one). Still, a small single engine plane is pretty easy to land in good weather.

I've only flown a real plane once, and the pilot did not let me land it :)
I've got about 150 hours of Flight Simulator time.

It would be difficult, but I know enough about flying to land a fully functional aircraft.

per this thread i have bought flight simulator X and can safely say i can bs my way into being able to land as long as "g" is for the landing gear, and period is still the breaks.....hehe. no but seriously a 747 would be extremely hard and prolly run out of runway or land just before the runway....

Few are claiming that they'd be able to effect a perfect landing without damaging the plane. I don't doubt that most on this forum would be able to pull off a landing that they could walk away from under good conditions.

Landing a small plane != brain surgery.

All of you worrying about finding the airport:
In a typical fixed gear light single, runways are highly overrated:p
Find a good open pasture without standing water, make a big circle back to said pasture, and "bring er in":)
No narrow runway to deal with, no real start or end except for the "farmer arresting gear" < fences>.

Meh. Highways were built for a reason. To land airplanes on.

Ever notice the long stretches? Landing strip.

False.
