I never did figure out how to land a plane in F19 Stealth Fighter. Tried many times, died. Eventually I just chose the option that removed the landing. Better than Ejecting after each Mission! :D
That was such an awesome game!

As for the OP, I think I could. I've been able to land in every flight simulator game I've played, including F19, Flight Simulator, IL2, and Falcon 4.

anybody remember soloflight on the commodore 64. I was never able to land that successfully.

Me too, only I believe I have only a dozen or so in Fixed-Wing.
Over 300 successful landings in Rotorcraft. (Only 2 of them were 'AHEM', "less than perfect". I still walked away, though.)

You must be running short on friends.

Landing = You being able to walk away from the landing regardless of the shape of the plane.

I had a pilot's license, but if I didn't NO.

It ain't easy.

Yes. The chance of me being alive 5 minutes after landing, and the plane being fully intact is another story.

I've spent enough time flying in MS flight sim and some other combat sims that I think I could handel a small plane without radio contact.

I'm not claiming that I'm eligible for a pilot's license, far from it, but the simulator gives you an idea of what to expect and an idea of what instruments to pay attention to. I'd probably fly around for a while before attempting landing to try to get a feel for the controls.

All of you worrying about finding the airport:
In a typical fixed gear light single, runways are highly overrated:p
Find a good open pasture without standing water, make a big circle back to said pasture, and "bring er in":)
No narrow runway to deal with, no real start or end except for the "farmer arresting gear" < fences>.

be carefull....Ctrl F and Ctrl E are too close :p

Also, P and [ are too close...you dont want to pause in mid-flight ;)

and if someone pressed ALT + F4, then its all over for you :D

Logged some stick time with an X-wing and a Tie Interceptor. Does that count?

I'd be able to land a small engine airplane. Wouldn't be too hard to do.

Gravity will always assist in helping the plane find its way down.

Remember though, there are more airplanes in the oceans than there are submarines in the skies.

The landing gear and runway would be totally fucked up but yeah I could land it.

Meh. Highways were built for a reason. To land airplanes on.

Ever notice the long stretches? Landing strip.

*nod*

I've played enough of the games that if I could find what controlled the main functions of the plane and landing gear, I could probably pull it off.

If I could use the radio and find out recommendations on what speed to land at, recommended angle based on wind, etc. then I'd probably do a bit better.

Sure I could. Just find a nice lake, fly low and get airspeed as low as I can, then kill the throttle and hope for the best...

I'm Pakistani. If I took over the controls of a larger airliner, either the passengers would kill me or some F-16s would shoot me down.

But a small plane, sure.

I believe that's interstates. Has to be a 1 mile long stretch of straight road for every 10 miles..or something like that.

Anyways, we had a class back in school that had MS flight simulator along with very realistic controls. I'd atleast have an idea what to do. I think a better question would be asking people what exactly you're supposed to do with the controls (and nobody spoil it).
