Ang Lee just made a little movie called "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" if you'll remember. Before that was the immensely underrated "Ice Storm". He's a real director, and I have nothing but high hopes for "Hulk".

Couching tiger, Hidden Dragon sucked ass.

as long as the cgi is not as bad as the scorpion king scene at the end of the mummy returns...it should do ok

i mean the rock as a big scorpion looked liek crap...what the heck were they thinking...

then again its very very hard to model a real human face in cgi...it will alwasy look fake

The cgi looks beyond stupid. I am more a fan of the television series than the comic book in this case, just because I grew up watching it. So if it's more comic bookish, then I'm gonna pass.

Yeah probably very well - a lot of marketing going on. I don't have any high hopes for even seeing it in theater tho. The CGI at parts looks barely better than the stuff used in Matrix rehashed.

I don't think it will do very well. Without Bill Bixby playing Bruce Banner, I just don't think the movie has a chance.

"Don't make me angry. You wouldn't like me when I'm angry." Pure poetry. They don't write scripts like that anymore.

I mean, if you had said the guy who directed "The Ice Storm" was going to direct a sweeping Martial Arts drama a few years ago, I would have had serious questions about the sanity of such an idea.

I would much rather have a great director like Ang Lee be directing Hulk, than Joel Schumacher, who has "experience" in the genre.

It amazes me. People are always bitching and moaning that Hollywood keeps churning out the same crap over and over, but then a studio give a HUGE property like Hulk to a thoughful, intelligent, 'unproven' (Ang Lee unproven... I can't believe I just said that) director instead of the studio hack who made Speed 2 or Resident Evil, or whatever other copy-cat movie that would be more expected with an action pic like Hulk, and everyone bitches and moans that he's not proven.

I am in the US, so it was a cheesy foreign film as opposed to a cheesy domestic film. But that is my opinion. One big movie doesn't mean he has proven himself in the CB genre. The CB genre is a lot tougher than the martial arts genre. Many more psychotic fans in the CB part of the industry.

Maybe I should watch CT, HD again. I haven't been sleeping well lately.

That line should be in the new movie. I remember something like that being in one of the trailers.

I'm very critical of martial arts movies, which is why I detest so many of them. I hate a fight to be so obvious that the person could only do what they're doing hanging from a dozen wires. That's why I agree that Crouching tiger was a cheesy film. In truth I couldn't finish it. The fighting was like a dance, not combat.

I like cheesy movies, so that wasn't a problem for me. I just think the movie is way too slow at some parts. Also, the English dub usually sucks, and I hate subtitles because I don't want to be looking at the bottom of the screen.

x2 is overrated really. its a movie with many many shallow characters:p but fans are so happy to see their xmen on screen it doesn't matter, dumb fun:p

spiderman was really hokey. fun i guess but i'll never watch it again.

last really good comic hero films were batman 1-2.

In that case, it's just a cheap rip-off of the original. :D

I think one of the problems may be that the storyline they based it on (God loves, Man kills) was not that near the beginning of the whole xmen thing, and that stifled character development a bit. Wait for the next 2 to clear up a bunch of things.

spiderman was really hokey. fun i guess but i'll never watch it again.

The next one will be better. Sam Raimi is the man.

last really good comic hero films were batman 1-2.

LXG this summer will blow Batman away ;)

It is a classic line. They have to use it. It would be like making a movie of the fantastic four and not including the Thing saying "It's clobberin' time!"

I guess I forgot the <sarcasm></sarcasm> tags. I hadn't seen the trailer, but I am not the least bit shocked to hear that it's in there.

I have high hopes for the movie because I once was a huge fan of the comic book.

But the CGI shots I saw at the trailer just didn't give me a good feeling. On the other hand...Jennifer Connelly...mmmm....Jennifer Connelly...and oh yeah, that Ang Lee guy.

I can only hope that the Hulk CGI looks as good as the Yoda CGI. I wonder what the Leader will look like?

And yes, in the comics, the Hulk used to throw tanks around and jumped several miles in one leap. He even fought Superman in a crossover title once.

League of Extraordinary Gentlement will be one of the best movies of the summer. X3/4, Wolverine, Preacher (yeah, like this will actually film :|), and the rest will all be hurt by the crap that will be the Hulk.

Hulk won't hurt comic book movies.

I can't believe you didn't mention Hellboy! It looks amazing.

Thats out on the 20th right? I think I will see it I want to see what it is all about, the cgi does look like it might not be that great but guess we will have to see. Its a marvel movie so pretty much guaranteed to make at least $50 million opening weekend... I think it will do well with kids, not sure what the rating is though.

I hope, I really do, that the Hulk will not suck. If it does, it will bring down the rest of the market for CB based movies, which will also suck.

Consider there are already 10 others in development or actually shooting right now. ;)

I understand your POV, though.
