I have heard some people say that believing in God is basically equal to believing in Santa Claus or the tooth fairy. I'm very curious to see how many people believe this. I'm also curious to see if politics apply to this at all.

I see no poll.

My opinion: I don't know if there is a god/superior being/energy/etc. and I really don't care because I don't think we'll ever know if there is one. So I casually make jokes on people who are "sure" of a god (religous people). they stupid stories (religionous tales) are probably a hoax, but I'm not sure of that either.

What keeps me awake at night sometimes is: why does stuff even exist, why the big bang, why anything. why these laws of physics, why ?
I don't let this bother my decision making; I am as atheist as most people on here, partly agnostic, I dunno.

People who believe: I have no opinion. Most have grown up with these tales, and I'm not going to try and make then not believe in whatever they do. this is America, people do what they want.
 
A wise man once told me, Religion is for the weak of mind who choose not to be in control of their own destiny.
 
You pretty much have to be less intelligent than most to believe those who believe in God are of lesser intelligence. I am not religious and never have been but some of the finest scientific minds the world has ever know were men of faith.

Actually its true in most cases, but it seems some people just chose to use their intelligence in dubious ways 😛

Its like the classical evil vs good thing, you have 2 masterminds but each chose their own side... We chose not to believe, they chose to believe, whatever suits them
 
I know plenty of very smart people who believe in God.

Your point? You hate God. So what. He probably doesn't like you either 😛

No, they can be very brilliant in many areas.....but, especially for the fundamentalist crowd, can be total Idiots in other areas. Many of the total Idiots we see in the News are usually the Idiots who are using their Religion to make themselves look better. "God hates Fags" and Suicide Belts are 2 ways Idiots make themselves "Heroes".
