Do you think Spielberg could direct a better Star Wars?

Apparently Spielberg is directing the final Duel between anakin and obiwan. it will be interesting to see if the movie flows..I have a feeling he is doing more than that scene.

Now that the live action Star Wars tv show is a go..Lucas is supposed to write/direct the first season then let other directors write and direct the following seasons..

more info from TFN&ISEB:

Uncle George was kind enough to join the fans at Celebration III for a quick chat about Sith and the future of Star Wars.
Lucas referred to Clone Wars as a pilot. He confirmed that the animated series will continue as a 3D animated half hour version and will be a regular TV series.

Also, he is working on a live action series that spins off from the films that doesn't incude the main characters but is about characters that we already know.

He plans to begin filming in a year. He wants to get all the scripts written for the first season all at once and then go out and shoot them.

Lucas will get it started, hire all the showrunners and then back away from it.

Following this format, there will be multiple directors, multiple writers so we are in for a ride! The future of Star Wars looks bright.

Here's what we've been told officially about the upcoming live-action TV series from Lucasfilm.

100 episodes
1 hour each
based on a spinoff character
Lucas will direct first season
write season one at one time
film season one at one time
takes place between ROTS and ANH

I've always said Spielberg/Mann/Scott would be the combo to beat directing a Star Wars trilogy.

Ridley Scott would do an AWESOME job setting the stage in the first movie, really enveloping audiences in the SW galaxy and making them a part of it. Michael Mann would be perfect for the 2nd movie, where things take on a darker tone and evil is spreading. Spielberg would wrap things up nicely in an action-packed, emotional roller-coaster "feel-good" 3rd movie.

and the fact they cgi'd the sh|t outta the last three movies!

just like all the Bond films...you gotta know when to STOP!!

Speaking of Star Wars, anyone else think that the guy that plays Anakin is looking an awful lot like Luke in the latest trailers?

I remember hearing a couple of years back that Lucas had considered letting David Fincher direct the prequels. That would have been great.

For all those unenlightened, David Fincher directed Seven, Fight Club, and Dune.

Spielberg is directing that fight??? Wow..

I doubt he will get screen credit..he was supposed to direct Return of the Jedi..but there was a problem with the directors guild.

It's not the directing that's the problem. The scripts are utter rubbish.

yep

Exactly, Goerge Lucas didn't write the scripts for the original star wars, and he should have left that job to someone more capable this time as well

I was talking to a guy who said that this Star Wars will explain a lot of the stuff in the first two that everybody complained about. This may be BS or truth. I am leaning toward BS but I will definatly be watching to see if it is truth.

i really think the X-Wing books would make a good TV mini-film series type thing, like 2hr episodes.....of course they would have to edit out the scenes involving original SW cast members cuz they old as chewed leather in their looks now, but i think in a general way the X-wing books would rule! except the last one, Starfighters of Adumar, that wasnt that great, but the Isard and oh pooh, whats his name, Wardlord thingummy, would be coooool......need a dark mind directing them tho, and they should be aired late so we can see the Krytos victims in their final death throes glooping black stuff around the clear cubes they live in....ooh yeah 🙂

James Cameron. He did Terminator 2, I think.

How can it explain away jar jar and other cheesy aspects of the movies?

memory is hazy now, but i thought Lucas was the main force behind the script for the first Star Wars (ANH), but not the other two?.....if im wrong dont break out the lynch mob to hang me!..lol
