Someone I knew, who is a teacher, got in trouble for disciplining one of his kid. I was a witness and I don't believe he was harsh at all. What he was accused of was OVERLY exaggerated and I have to admit, that kid had a pretty bad attitude. He also got in trouble a second time because he gave a female student a hug because she was crying. The kid ran home and told her parents and apparently her parents don't like it. WTF is this double standard bullsh!t? I see female teachers give hugs all the time but when a male teacher does it, automatically suspicion comes into play.

So I ask you this, do you think parents and adminstrators are getting out of line? I want to become a teacher but seriously I'm so scared that I might get sued for doing something that I thought was reasonable. It's come to a point where you can't even lay your finger on the student.

I remember back in the days when I was in the 3rd grade, my teacher would make us hold out our hands and smack it with a ruler. Yeah it bites and I don't condone such acts but it shows how critical the education system has become. All of this is feeding into parents and now they overact on every little thing.

Kids these days are brought up to not respect teachers. If the teachers gives them a punishment they dont like they tell their parents and the parents bitch at the school. Stupid parents. The Chicago school I grew up was nothing like that. When you got punished by the teacher, it was final. No bitchy parents calling in. Now days, if the teacher raises their voice they will get suspended. WTF is happening to our schools?

I'm telling ya. It's okay to be critical of what the teacher of your child does. After all, he/she is responsible for your child's education. But parents are taking it out of proportion and now has become the critic. Partly so because of the media's overexaggeration of the few bad apples in education.
