No, it's suicide if she does. The debates will be make or break for her with the undecided voters.

No way, she's the only thing keeping McCain in the race. Without her pretty face he's just a ho hum puffy faced also ran.

Exactly. In the minds of people who support her she will "win" the debates no matter how bad and uninformed she is.

I can already predict the GOP spin for the debates.

If she sticks to her canned answers which say nothing, "see she is just as qualified as the others"

If they ask a politically technical question and Biden blows her away, "Biden is trying to be the smartest guy in the room...elistist...sexist...they picked on her".

Ok, ok I'll write him a 'campaign donation' check to pay for the botox but only if someone else agrees to chip in and buy him a new set of tits.

She'll debate, and she'll go down in flames.

It's hard to lie about your opponent when he's standing right next to you.

I can just imagine the applause right now when Palin delivers her "thanks but no thanks" line and Biden gets the crowd on their feet when he exposes the truth.

Nonsense. To be VP calibre you have to shoot the person with a shotgun "accidentally" after mistaking them for a quail.

Bad choices - I voted she'll stay in, but you added 'hold her own'.

I don't think she'll hold her own. She will use a lot of canned phrases and comments.

She will run and hide and the Christian tools will still vote her in blindly as that's how they vote.

She will hold her own. But, 'her own' is a very low threshhold. LOL! McCain's grandchildren could stand in for Sarah "Quayle". She might even spell potato right....

Why McCain burdened his campaign with this low end Chevelle 2 dr coupe of a candidate is beyond me. I guess he figured that since he's pandering to the right wing Christians he might as well go 'all in'. But, when she implodes who's he gonna' call? Romney? LOL!

I can't believe 50% of America supports that ticket. Downright frightening....All those people who needed more time in Darwin's Waiting Room. :)

Yup. Joe Biden will run rings around her and SERIOUSLY outclass her in every single way . . . and then the spin will begin.

And by the time our forum hacks, the fundy blogosphere, and what passes for the journalists at Fox news get done with their fud and diversion, it really won't matter.

Remember the Dub's OUTRIGHT DEBACLE in his first debate 4 years ago? It didn't matter.

If these things mattered, the sellout opportunist currently impersonating John McCain would never have picked that dipstick with lipstick as his running mate. :(

Usually I have no idea what the hell you're talking about...but I got that one!

What kind of phony point are you trying to make?

Biden made a perfectly innocent mistake. He's at some event recognizing local people he doesn't know, you can see him looking at the paper for the name, and he says what's normally just fine, askinng the person to stand up. In about a second he looks up and sees who the person is in a wheelchar, and handled the gaffe very well, immeditately having everyone else applaud to honor the person, and realizing his awkward mistake, walked over and shook his hand, and made a self-deprecating comment.

Yet you're here bringng it up like it has any bearing on Biden's abiliity as a leader. You really deserve to get ignored with crap like that.

Whatever questions are asked will trigger the closest rehearsed answer. These things are more a moderated joint press conference than a true debate, anyway.

Expectations going into the debate are very low so the only way she can really mess up is if the moderator manages to ask something not in her script (not likely) or does what they did at some previous debates, which is let each candidate ask the other one of their own questions. Figure then Biden & Co should have time enough to come up with something that might stymie her.
Remember that both parties will have to agree to the debate format, so anything that sets up a significant possibility of uncomfortable questions or insistent follow-up questioning will be nixed by the McCain team. If Governor Palin fails to present a major quotable gaffe and does not appear entirely brain dead, her supporters will declare a great victory. She will have been the greatest debater since Abraham Lincoln.

I swear she must be the paternal twin of Dan Quayle. They have so much in common.

Too bad that Palin will just be a teeny tiny footnote in the annals of history.

I think she should audition for SNL. She'd be a natural.

Here is what the McCain camp will try to do...

So restrict the rules of the debate Palin will only have to give carefully scripted answers.

Biden can counter by making the debate negotiations public.

McCain will also try to setup a situation where Palin will be pulled away from the campain just before the debate (probably sick relative), thereby saying she didn't have time to prepare, thereby greatly lowering expectations. Anything short of stating she is communist will be declared a victory.

She will have no choice but to drop out.
Trooper gate itself will come to a head about then, and
the GOP will have a list of what they can ask her and can not ask her, due to ongoing investigation. Those limits on questioning will force the VP debates to be canceled.
Canceled probably by the Biden people, because they will never agree to censored debates for her benefit.

BUT... the GOP will spin this cancelation around to make it appear the democrats are to blame. To blame for not going along with censored debates.

I may be wrong, but really NOTHING surprises me anymore with the Mccain folks.
And if the vp debates are canceled, then the GOP ad's can continue on lying
about her qualifications without direct confrontation.
Remember, we?re dealing with ?snakes in the grass? here.
