Do you think Palin will drop out of the debates?

There are a lot of possible excuses here. She could get the flu, break a nail, morning sickness, dry eyes, etc.

I'm really just musing out loud here but do you think that the GOP will come up with some excuse to keep her out of the limelight? The GOP has been extremely protective of her image and kept her relatively far from the press until now. Is it possible this will extend to the debates?

No, she will go in them and put up a very stoic bad ass image as nothing but diarrhea erupts from her lips. I really can't wait.

I voted no.... Because she cant just drop out. If your question was more realistic and worded - "will Sara Palin get handily beaten in the debates" I would say yes.

we've already heard her answers, it will just be the same stuff repeated over and over

We will hear how Obama voted against lowering taxes 94 times - even though that number is complete and utter BS

We will hear ....you get the idea

No she won't but she did not do well IMO at the townhall meeting last night.

It doesn't matter how horrible her answers are. She is going to convince voters that care about looks, small town charm, and feel good sound bytes, not those that want substantive answers. And there are a lot of voters out there that care about those superficial things, so it isn't a bad strategy.

I think NeoV has it about right, she will hope to slogan her way through, and if Joe Biden is too mean to her, she may get some sympathy. Its still a gamble because she may not be able to control the questions.
Some questions can be spun and are just ripe for the right buzzwords, and others can be magnifying glasses of ignorance for the candidate not up to speed on the issues. We will also see how many moves Sarah can think ahead on her feet, because some other type questions are traps that induce foot in mouth syndrome.

Meanwhile she will be gunning after Joe who better watch his own ass, they do not call her the barracuda for nothing.

She'll go in and stick to her script like her life depended on it. That will probably get her past three-quarters of the questions thrown at her.

This would spell disaster for the McCain campaign if she dropped out. Considering her competition she should handle herself well enough.

drop out of the debates? that's an absurd question. of course not.

she'll go, she'll probably give quasi-on-point talking points answers and do the bare minimum to get by while hoping (with good reason) that Biden will say something stupid.

LOL, you guys are hillarious. What do you think Obama is? We've been saying almost the same thing about him for over a year!

Yes, but in your case it's been a total lie. We're talking about a dog catcher from nowhere and you're talking about a guy that beat Hillary Clinton. Your candidate and likely inheritor of the Presidency isn't even a minor league player.

...Obama = Palin?

No. You don't have to support him to realize that one.

No way, that would definitely hurt the McCain campaign. What you'll see is her sticking to certain talking points as much as she can and be on the offensive to try and keep the ball in her court. I don't expect anything of much substance from her though. She's only on the ticket to appease the conservative base.

I think she'll stick to the script and as a result she'll do fine. The campaign goal is merely to avoid her uttering a major gaff. If the biggest criticism leveled at her after the campaign is that "she doesn't seem very thoughtful on the issues" then that'd be seen as a victory for the campaign.

Expectations going into the debate are very low so the only way she can really mess up is if the moderator manages to ask something not in her script (not likely) or does what they did at some previous debates, which is let each candidate ask the other one of their own questions. Figure then Biden & Co should have time enough to come up with something that might stymie her.

She is debating Joe Biden!!!

The same guy who told a paraplegic to stand up so the crowd could see him. link

The guy who made the bad joke about Indians in 7-11's. link

The guy who said: ?I mean, you got the first mainstream African American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy.?

The guy who was asked in 25 words or less to explain why Democrats should nominate him and then proceeded to give a 45 word answer.

Biden might know his stuff, but one dumb ass statement and that may all be ignored.

Yep, no way either repub would drop a debate when they've been denied additional debat dates by the dems.
